I was wondering if any of my class mates may haave patronized on of my businesses but never realized you were helping me out. I was in the espresso coffee business for 18 years and had a video store for 5 years.  My espresso business was called Cappa Java  and the video store was Take 2 Video.  Cappa Java was located at Cross Roads mall from 1987 to 1990.  It was located in the food court area called Eastside Public Market,  just inside the main entrance . Closed in 1990 when Starbucks jumped in and offered too much money for me to compete. I next opened in Fred Meyer at Auburn from 1990 to 2000.  It was an Espresso Cart  by the Hardware entrance. I put in a video store, Take 2 Video,  beside it when Freddies closed their restuarant and  I leased that space.  Sold video store and had to close epresso cart when Freddies put their own espesso stand in.  Their espresso stand failed and they brought in Starbucks which I beleive is still there. I then operated my espresso cart at Fred Meyers in Bonnie Lake for 5 years and then retired when Freddies put in a Starbucks franchise. So all three of my locations turned into Starbucks. I did meet Pat Joy and John Davis and renewed a close friendship with Jerry Heiland at Bonnie Lake.  Did anyone else from my class patronise me ?  I worked full time at the locations but you probably wouldn't recognize me.

I wanted everyone to know that Fred Grabos passed away yesterday from pneumonia. He had a stroke a couple of years ago and he eventually wound up in the hospital from a couple of falls. He was a dad, grandpa, talented machinist, hardcore skiier and outdoor lover.  He was a life long member of the Beater Squad and never lost his party spirit. RIP, Kudux.

Kudux

I don't know where that name came from but I've called him that forever. I've known Fred since early grade school and have sooo many stories (most of which I can't repeat). Fred was one of the original "wild and crazy guys". Thanks Morris for letting us know. Kudux was a founding member of the "Beater Squad". He was loyal, a good family man and a little on the wild side and I loved him to death. Ken Heigh

Fred was a great guy with a sense of humor that I could appreciate.

Another Brother Pirate taken from us far to soon.

Fred will be missed by all who knew him.

I am very sad to hear of Fred's passing. We had many wonderful chats together and I enjoyed Fred's unique friendship throughout high school. I really enjoyed Fred's parents and visits over at Fred's house. Fred was a special guy and would always care about how you were doing in your life. Fred had a special smile and a great sense of humor, but he could also take the time to talk heart to heart to you. I am glad I was able to spend some quality time talking to Fred at the 50th Reunion.

Mr. Quinell teasingly called Fred the "Permatex Kid" in Engine Shop, and Fred always played Permatex sealants up as a cure for everything in front of Quinell and the guys. Quinell did not believe in sticky sealants.

Fred was an excellent snow skier, liked to work out on his mountain bike, and loved many outdoors recreatioanl activities. It depressed him greatly after the last stroke, but he still had the passion for activities in his heart. RIP my special friend. Hope to see you on the other side some day. God bless you.

It's hard to properly convey the deep-seated melancholy I felt when I read Steve's thoughtful message Sunday morning.  It's been a lot of years, but I well recall how much I enjoyed Fred's company when we were in high school, his cheerful good nature, energetic spirit of adventure (particularly his pedal-to-the metal mastery of skiing), and infectious sense of humor.  Like Ken (Heigh) said, I have no recollection of what Kudux meant or where it came from, but it's whimsical and borderline rascally, just like Fred.

I have many great memories of Fred starting at Sunnydale, the Beater Squad days especially in Seahurst and Ellensberg, the 50th reunion and many good times in between. He had a good attitude and outlook on life. RIP.

I recently got out my 64 yearbook and read the note from Fred.  He had a great sense of humor and an infectious laugh.  He was a loyal friend and I remember being in his home on a number of occasions. He had a great family.  I've lived out of Wa since 1967 so I haven't seen Fred since H.S. But my life is better having known him as a true friend during those years. God Bless!

The celebration of "Christmas" is to acknowledge and give thanks to God for the birth of His Son Jesus Christ, the Christians' "Lord of lords".  To my recollection, Santa is a secular rendition of Saint Nicholas(sp?) who was a generous gift-giver to poor homeless children in northern Europe centuries ago. Both of these people based their words and actions on love, kindness, generous giving, and sincere caring of others in need while alive here on earth. If there was anyone more than politically correct, it was these individuals in history -- one God in human form and one generous old man giving gifts to needy street orphans.

May you all enjoy the blessings of love & fellowship, and a "birthday party" for Christ with your family and friends during the Christmas Holiday. Merry Christmas to all Christians and Happy Hannukah to my Jewish friends! Have a blessed celebration honoring God's gifts to mankind.

Cheers,

Al & Bon

Sherry, the human mind is truly an amazing thing-I can remember the names of at least 14 or 15 of these classmates.  We really haven't changed all that much over the years, have we?

Sherry - I'm wondering what was going on back in 1945 that produced 8 boys in your class and 14 girls.

Wish I knew what happened to my Sunnydale pictures.  Things I should have ask my parents while they were still here.  Unbelievable how this old mind can still pick out those young kids.
