Have seen this scam several times over the past several years.   Usually it's a friend having a trip to the Phillipines that 'goes bad'.  The poor way they phrase things is what I pick up on everytime (ie: "going for sight seeing").  I suppose the time I've spent in the PI over the years I was serving in 'Uncle Sugar's Canoe Club' has helped with that.  However, with all the damage from the recent cyclones, I wouldn't think they would try the vacation angle.   Ah well, no one said they were top of their class.  Just stay careful out there.

Linda

I checked my profile and did not receive the e-mail you were refering to. However, when I was working I received an e-mail very simialr to the one you received and another one that was posted from Nigeria. In that one I was told that a relative of mine died in a plane crash some where over Africa and I was the only survivng relative and would inherit 12 million dollars. Of course there was a catch. I had to wire $3,000 to take care of all the red tape involved with getting my inheritance. In both e-mails the sentence structure and verbage were very clumsy to say the least. It would be funny if it wasn't so frusting to have one's e-mail violated that way.

Glad to know I wasn't the only one!  I was beginning to feel like they went through all of the pictures and chose the one they thought would be dumb enough to fall for it!  What's sad is that so many (much more) elderly fall for it and send money. We were always on the lookout for scam artists with both sets of parents in their 'older' age.  And Larry's mom did get taken by a man selling solar panels.  Here she was in a very old house in the middle of the woods, living on social security, and he got her to sign up for $40,000 worth of panels.  Took me months to get that resolved.  And now I have my kids questioning me on some things.  Can't believe they could possibly think I am that old already!

I  was wondering who has the longest lasting marriage in the class. We celebrate our 48th Jan. 1.  I know there must be some who have been married longer than that.  Just curious.

Congratulations Dennis, I can't compete with that.  I hope you, your wife and family plan a spectacular 50th celebration next year.

You have me beat - We will be married 46 years in May.  Congratulations on 48 years.  How strange to find that in our generation long mariages were common; these days people are amazed we have been married this long.

You all beat me.  School and the army keep me too busy for marriage.  We have been married only 38 years last March.

Happy New Year Everyone

You all have me beat. I waited, until I graduated from the UofW, to get married. That marriage lasted 4 years.

I sewed my "wild oats" for awhile until I was intorduced to my future wife Theresa on August 10, 1981, How's that for remembering an inportant date? Theresa and I will be celebrating our 33rd anniversary February 13, 2015.

GO HAWKS!!!!!!

OK, everyone.  That was a good response to my question, " Who has the longest lasting marriage?"  I figured there were some 50 year marriages out there. Here is another question.  Who was the most prolific?  I see Daniel Bong has 10 children and 12 grandchildren.  I guess he was doing more than preaching the Lords command to go forth and multiply!!!

I'm out of the running for this one - I don't have any kids.  I'd be interested to see how many others have.

Hey Virginia missed talking with you at the reunion. Anyway, we have two kids Greg and Teresa and have started are 44th year of marriage. I forgot to mention we have 1 grandchild.

I beleive Dan Bong was the most prolific so far with ten children and twelve grandkids.  Some classmates have great grandkids now so maybe they will surpass Dan.  Jennifer Moore married in June 1964 and may have the longest lasting marriage.  Of course alot of classmates haven't signed on yet, so who knows?  Thanks for the responses.

I was wondering if any of my class mates may haave patronized on of my businesses but never realized you were helping me out. I was in the espresso coffee business for 18 years and had a video store for 5 years.  My espresso business was called Cappa Java  and the video store was Take 2 Video.  Cappa Java was located at Cross Roads mall from 1987 to 1990.  It was located in the food court area called Eastside Public Market,  just inside the main entrance . Closed in 1990 when Starbucks jumped in and offered too much money for me to compete. I next opened in Fred Meyer at Auburn from 1990 to 2000.  It was an Espresso Cart  by the Hardware entrance. I put in a video store, Take 2 Video,  beside it when Freddies closed their restuarant and  I leased that space.  Sold video store and had to close epresso cart when Freddies put their own espesso stand in.  Their espresso stand failed and they brought in Starbucks which I beleive is still there. I then operated my espresso cart at Fred Meyers in Bonnie Lake for 5 years and then retired when Freddies put in a Starbucks franchise. So all three of my locations turned into Starbucks. I did meet Pat Joy and John Davis and renewed a close friendship with Jerry Heiland at Bonnie Lake.  Did anyone else from my class patronise me ?  I worked full time at the locations but you probably wouldn't recognize me.
