Just think, if you had kept those signs, you can get a fortune for them now....go figure!

Thanks Mr Jones for the update on Rod Serling and daughter Anne. I am going to look up both the book and the movie.

I'm sorry to hear about Mark Jorstad's passing.  We first became acquainted our Senior year in, of all places, Mrs. Edwards typing class.  We became friends and saw each other over the years at the reunions and at Jorstad's Jewelry.  While I was working at Alaska Airlines and after I retired I saw him on the Phoenix flight and at the Phoenix airport several times.  He will be missed.

On a happier note, how about one of you organizers figure out a Diamond Anniversary (most of us are or will be 75 this year) picnic or get together.  Something in or around Burien?  Just a thought.  I'm good at thinking up things but a terrible organizer because I'm a world class procrastinator.

We moved to Monroe last year to be closer to our son and daughter-in-law and the only "good" thing about COVID was no traffic on 405 and we could make the trip in 45-50 minutes at all times of day, and we must have made more than fifty trips.

Biden has stated that he will turn over power to the Taliban when they agree to his terms.

And there you have it.

But it was the neocons who got us in there in the first place.

There is absolutely no learning curve.

Gregg......this is so tragic in more ways than we will ever know.

Bob Boice (Highline 65) brought Monty Edwards down to Olympia. Haven't seen either of them for some time.

We took the boat out, went up to Boston Harbor Marina where we got some sandwiches, then headed north up the eastern side of Hartstene Island.  We stopped at Jarrell's Cove State Park where we stretched our legs and walked the dog.  Then on around the west side of Hartstene and back to Olympia.

Fun day on the water.  Weather was perfect. Flat water.  Great to see these two and spend the day with them.  Monty was my best man many moons ago.  Bob was my neighbor on Sylvester Road growing up.

Does a person good to visit with old friends....

Cheers,

Tim

Here's a link to a very short video of Monty at the helm.  https://youtu.be/2y0Etz_ttrw                        looks like it's not an active link.  You'll have to copy and paste it into your browser.....

A terrific post, Tim, and it's presactly what this forum is all about -- memories, old friendships, and camaraderie. As an Olympia boater, I heartily approve of the day's itinerary. You and Monty had the "Full Monty" of South Sound cruising. And I suspect that once the lines were tied, there may have been an adult beverage or two.

Thank you, guys... really enjoyable.

Bill

Looking back to 1965....when 52 cents went a long way.

All American Three Course Meal.  52 cents!  1965.  I remember those days. I recall buying two dollars worth of gas for my 53 Oldsmobile, my first car, 8 gallons.  That would last me almost a week. Yeah, the ole' Yankee Dollar isn't worth very much these days.

The way the Fed is pouring money into US economy, hyper-inflation may make the dollar essentially worthless. A trillion here, a trillion there. Pretty soon you are talking some real money......

Between 1921 and 1923, the German Mark became essentially worthless.  I have somewhere in my photo archives a pic of a million Mark postage stamp. The stories about wheelbarrows full of Marks for a loaf a bread are  true.

The US came to the aid of Germany in 1922-23.  Created a new German Mark backed by the US Dollar which was backed by gold.

Who or whom is going to bail us out?  China? Saudi Arabia? Russia? Germany?

Buy gold. Buy silver. It has worked for me.

I bought 1 ounce gold coins for 180 dollars in 1978. Today the gold price is 1,930 dollars. The gold has NOT increased in value. Reason it out.

I've been looking for one of these. My hair is getting thin!  Ad from Popular Mechanics about 1930.

Any of you crusing the antique malls or flea markets come by one of these, I'd be interested

in purchasing it from you. I have $42+ Student-body Card.
