Raymond Wayne Sargent
Ray went home to be with Jesus on Saturday, Jan. 25, 2014, surrounded by his loving family.
Ray was born Aug. 12, 1957, in Burley, Idaho, to Bill and Joan Sargent. He grew up farming in Murtaugh with his brother, Steve, and his sister, Carol. He graduated from Burley High School and Idaho State University. He then worked as a CPA in Helena, Mont., before moving back home and starting his own business. On Nov. 13, 1981, he married Brenda Copenbarger. They have three children and eight grandchildren. Ray worked at ACME manufacturing in Filer, Idaho, for 17 years. He started out in the accounting department and worked his way up to company president. He was working for Watco Transportation as a financial analyst at the time of his death.
When he wasn’t working, Ray loved the outdoors — fishing, hunting, hiking, camping. He had a passion for photography and has taken many beautiful photos, some of which he has framed.
On April 1, 2013, Ray was diagnosed with cancer. He put up a courageous fight. But then he got a glimpse of heaven. He told us all that he was going home to Jesus. He wanted all his friends, family and loved ones to know Jesus so that he could see them again one day.
Ray is survived by his wife, Brenda; his daughter, Kayci (Chad) Montgomery; their children, Connor, Anthony, Kayli, Savanna and Ryli; his son, Matthew (Summer) Sargent; their children, Rebekah, Gabriel and Ryan; and daughter, Tammy Sargent. Also surviving are his parents, Bill and Joan Sargent; brother, Steve (Linda) Sargent; sister, Carol (Randy) Huether; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. His maternal grandparents, Charles and Eunice Patterson; and paternal grandparents, Estle and Mabel Sargent, preceded him in death.
A visitation, with the family, was held from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 31, 2014 at the Heritage Alliance Church, 401 Sixth Ave. N. in Twin Falls.
A celebration of life service was held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 1, 2014 at the Twin Falls Reformed Church, 1631 Grandview Drive N. in Twin Falls.
A special thank you to all the doctors and nurses at St. Luke’s, especially those at MSTI and the third floor nurses. Your caring went above and beyond the call of duty and Ray very much appreciated you.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made in Ray’s name to a trust that is been established at the Idaho Central Credit Union, Pole Line Branch in Twin Falls, Idaho.
All services and arrangements were under the direction of Parke’s Magic Valley Funeral Home of Twin Falls Idaho. Those wishing to share memories and condolences may do so on Ray’s memorial webpage at www.magicvalleyfuneralhome.com.
