BURLEY | Ken L. Neiwert, 60, of Burley, died Wednesday, Sept. 2, 2015, at his home. He was born July 8, 1955, in Burley, Idaho, to Herman Lee Neiwert and Beverly June Dayley Neiwert. He received his education in Burley and graduated from Burley High School in 1973. While in school, he was active in the sports programs where he played on the football and basketball teams, boxed, played tennis, and especially excelled in golf. Following graduation, he furthered his education at the College of Southern Idaho prior to a devastating car accident that left him paralyzed for the past 35 years.
He married Barbara Hockings in August 1973 in Burley. Together, they had one daughter, Hollie. They later divorced. He was later married for a short time to Brenda Uscola. Ken worked at A & B Irrigation prior to his accident. He was an outstanding artist and was especially talented in oil painting. He was an avid sports fan and enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping.
Ken is survived by his daughter, Hollie Gregersen of Price, Utah; three grandchildren, Bo, Brayden, and Maylee Gregersen; his mother, Beverly Neiwert of Burley; and one brother, Kevin (Christine) Neiwert of Burley.
He was preceded in death by his father, Herman Neiwert; and his paternal and maternal grandparents.
The funeral was held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 9, at the Rasmussen Funeral Home, 1350 E. 16th St., in Burley. Friends and family called from 6 until 8 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 8, and from 10 until 10:45 a.m. Wednesday. Burial was in Gem Memorial Gardens.
