May 20, 1937-Jan. 30, 2015
BURLEY • Carol Louise (Dobson) Larson, 77, passed away Friday, Jan. 30, 2015, at her home in Burley, Idaho.
Carol was born May 20, 1937, in Tooele, Utah, to Albert LeRoy and Edna (McLaws) Dobson. After graduating from Tooele High School in 1955, Carol attended Utah State University where she was elected student body secretary and was a member of the Kappa Delta Sorority. She married Glen E. Larson in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on June 12, 1958, and they moved to Burley where Glen farmed. In 1965, they moved back to Logan and Carol finished her degree in secondary education. She and Glen had four children, Craig, Mike, Corine and Phillip.
Carol was a gifted teacher and taught English and Humanities for many years at Burley High School. She also supervised the yearbook staff, which was one of her favorite classes. She had an easy rapport with her students and loved to laugh with them. She strived for excellence in her teaching and set a high standard for herself and her students.
She had a bright mind, was a voracious reader, and loved to learn. She also liked to travel and see new things. She enjoyed exploring historical sites, visiting art galleries, and traveling through Scotland and England, the home of her ancestors. Carol filled her life and home with music of all kinds. She sang at home and in the car to her children and grandchildren. She sang to help them sleep, travel, learn, and even wake up in the morning. She particularly enjoyed attending music festivals and concerts.
Carol had a strong work ethic and she worked hard at school, at home, and in her yard. She also loved a good laugh and her wry, Scottish wit, was the source of many laughs at home, school, and church. She was active in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She was a woman of faith who spent more time acting on it than talking about it. She had a genuine interest in people and it was her nature to put others first. She was a kind person who was mindful of the needs of those around her. She seemed to intuitively know if someone was having difficulty and she responded in quiet ways.
Above all, she loved her family. She spent her life putting the needs of her family first. She was a dedicated wife, mother, and grandmother. She took particular interest in the activities of her children and grandchildren and they were never far from her thoughts and her heart. She loved spending time with them and listening to what and how they were doing.
Carol is survived by her husband, Glen E. Larson of Burley; four children, Craig (Paulee) Larson of Burley, Mike (Leslie) Larson of Mendon, Utah, Corine (Sheldon) Bradshaw of Alexandria, Va., and Phillip (Jennifer) Larson of Mountain Green, Utah; 13 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and a brother, Russell Dobson of Tooele, Utah. She was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Elaine; and her brothers, Jay, Ralph, and Blaine.
The funeral was held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 5, 2015 at the Star LDS Church, 100 S. 200 W. of Burley, Bryce Hanks officiated. Burial was in the Pleasant View Cemetery. A viewing was held from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 4, at the Rasmussen Funeral Home, 1350 E. 16th St. in Burley, and from 10-10:45 a.m. Thursday at the church.
