When I would ask, "Can't it be done THIS way?", he would answer, "Yost, it's like a dead horse: it won't work!" I love math, especially Trig, because of him!
I remember many many times "Goldie" saying: "No, it's a horse of a different color!" However, what I remember THE most is the one and only time I received the highest grade on a test in our class period. Goldie was STUNNED, and he said: "Guess who got the highest grade on the test? -- Miss Allen -- CAN YOU BELIEVE IT????"
I was in a class with some pretty strong "mathletes" -- heavy hitters, and I was the weak link. Math was not my strong suit, and most of the time I think I had the "deer in the headlights" expression. While everyone else was gliding through problems, I was at his desk asking for help.
Marvin Green (1976)
He's the only teacher that ever gave me a "D"... and he turned my world around!!!
What a ROCK STAR!
Boyd Yost (1976)
