Allen Ray Thurston, age 50, of Salt Lake City, formerly of Burley, Idaho, died on Tuesday, December 2, 2008.
He was born June 6, 1958 in Burley, Idaho, the son of Robert Keith and Reta Jane Prescott Thurston.
Allen received his elementary and secondary schooling in Burley, and completed his education at the College of Southern Idaho as a certified welder. He married Mary Francine Woods on March 3, 1995 in Burley. They have made their home in Salt Lake City, Utah. Allen was skilled in the field of transportation. He loved the outdoors and especially enjoyed hunting, fishing and 4-wheeling. He liked collecting hats, coins and guns. Allen loved his family and was a loving son, brother, husband and dad.
He is survived by his wife, Mary of Salt Lake City; his children, Emily Marie Thurston and Travis Scott Woods-Miller, both of Salt Lake City; his only sister, Debbie (David) Gonzales of Burley, Idaho; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.
The Funeral will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, December 11, 2008 at the Rasmussen Funeral Home, 1350 East 16th Street, Burley, Idaho, with Bob Ramsey officiating. Burial will be in the Riverside Cemetery.
Friends may call from 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday and one hour prior to the services on Thursday at the Rasmussen Funeral Home.
