After I graduated from the University of Denver I was employed at Fox 31 (TV) in Denver for a few years as a film editor and master control engineer. I then went back to radio--first at good old KNAB and then on to KLMR in Lamar.
in 1989 I began a career in insurance as an underwriter for the Chubb Group of Insurance in Warren, NJ (I was located in Denver) and then as an agent which is what I have done for the past 18 years.
Barbara and I have been married for 25 years and we adopted a 6 year old boy (Richard) in 1991. The first 6 years of a child's life are very important. Ricky had a lot of emotional issues including detatchment disorder. After joining the army at age 17 he seemed to be getting a lot better. He and his girlfriend had a son together but his girlfriend's stepfather decided it was statutory rape and contacted the army. He then told Ricky the child probably wasn't even his as his girlfriend had been cheating on him the whole time he was away. 3 years of fights, a paternity test, and discharge without prejudice later was more than Ricky could handle. He committed suicide in 2008. We enjoy time with our grandson, Dakota, who lives with his mother, her boyfriend and her other 2 children who we consider our grandkids as well.
My junior year at DU I dislocated my knee, fell down a flight of stairs and broke my back. I have had pain associated with that since then, in 2009 I broke my arm badly and have been on full disability since September 2010. I also lost most of my hearing due to my bone disease and now wear hearing aids in both ears. I had laser eye surgery so I don't have to wear glasses except to read.
I occupy my time now with some unpaid consulting work, fantasy football, and I help folks with computer problems. Other than that I don't do a whole lot now but can still putter around the house and enjoy my grandson and my 2 dogs Illiana (a min-pin) and Tater (a Jack Russell Terrier). We all co-exist in a small house we recently bought on the outskirts of Kansas City, Missouri, near KCI airport. I would love to see or talk to any of you anytime! Give me a call or shoot me an e-mail. I am also on facebook and have reconnected with many old friends there. I do some volunteer work reading for the blind, try to get to church every week, and generally try to stay happy with my lot in life. I post irreverent nonsense on facebook and enjoy some of the feedback it generates from many of you.
Though this doesn't involve just our class I vividly remember the Drama Club trip in our sophomore year where a vast majority of us did things we shouldn't have been doing. (read drinking, smoking, and disorganized mischief like Tom Herman climbing the wall on the 2nd story of the hotel to go from one room to the next). Linda Diekman should have won an award for the chewing out she gave us on the bus afterward. Our hijinks almost got the trip cancelled altogether.
I remember Ernie and I went to Mr. B and took responsibility for the trip the next year and he reluctantly agreed to let us go again.
I also fondly recall how well our class seemed to work together in our senior year to take 1st place at Fall Festival.

Hi Kay! Hope you’re doing well!! Love those grand babies. They grow up so darn fast. Mine are 13, 9, and 7 now. Crazy thought of crazy life, I may very well live to be a great grandpa! If I can hang on until my eighties I might even make a great-great! Wow I feel really old all of a sudden!
