I went to NCSU after high school. Unfortunately, my father became very ill, so I came home after the first semester and attended Elon the next. The next year, I attended East Carolina University. I got married in April of 1982, got my insurance license and went to work for an insurance company. I lost my father in 1984 to heart disease. I had my first child in Aug. 1990. I worked in insurance until my second child was born in 1992. In 1994, my husband was transferred to Charlotte with Duke Power. We moved to Harrisburg, which is just outside of Charlotte. I went to work in 1998 for the Cabarrus Co. School system. In 2001, my husband was diagnosed with cancer. He battled the disease for 4 years and finally succumbed to it on March 11, 2005. Since then I've kind of been on auto-pilot. My oldest child, Matthew is a freshman at ASU. He is brilliant and talented and very handsome. Brian is 16 and struggling to find himself, but I have every confidence that he will come out just fine. He is very handsome as well. My brother, Tripp lives in Currituck, NC with his wife, Stacie (Hughes) and their two cats. My mother lives on Lake Wylie in SC and has remarried. I am still in Harrisburg, single and really looking forward to the reunion this year.
Update since the 30th reunion. I reconnected with an old schoolmate, Wade Little. We have been together since Oct. 2009. Wild, Huh? I have been working at Wild Birds Unlimited for the last 3 years and I absolutely love it. Yes, I am the "Crazy Bird Lady!" On August 22, I sold my home of 20 years and have downsized to an apartment. Who knows where I will go from here. My son, Matthew, graduated from Appalachian State University. Brian, my youngest, lives in Boone with his girlfriend, Emily. I am looking forward to seeing everyone at the 35th reunion.
Update since the 35 reunion. As most of you know, in December 2015, Wade Little passed away. I have since moved to Gastonia with my cat Lilly. I still work at Wild Birds Unlimited. I have been there for almost 8 years now. I have a beautiful 4 year old grandson whom I don’t get to see nearly enough. My mom is still living on Lake Wylie and Tripp and Stacie are still in Currituck NC. My life has been somewhat of a mess but I’m really looking forward to seeing everyone at the reunion.
