Happy and safe travels to all of you headed to the reunion! Can't wait to see all the pics and hear the great stories...btw-how long will this site be up?!

Hello all-

As I chime in again, I am with a heavy heart I won't see most of you this weekend. On the other hand, I am leaving tomorrow morning for Jamaica to marry the most wonderful woman I could ever ask for. I am truly blessed. No doubt.

Over the past few months, lots of us have become close again thru this site and facebook. It's almost as though we have never been apart. The memories keep coming back to me on things as small as some conversations we've had in the past, or adventures we took part in together. I look at your profiles and see beautiful families and successful people. That's an awesome thing. In turn, I remember you as a 5th grader at Smith Elementary or grown-up 8th grader at Turrentine. We all tried to grow up so fast and, to me, too many things were taken for granted. I enjoyed our years growing up. I have always looked back at them and wished they had never gone away. Friday nights playing football, parties when someone's parents were out of town (my parents knew better than to ever leave me home alone), cruising around Burlington trying to act cool. We had the world by the short hairs back then and we didn't even know it. At 38, I see myself at 17, and I wish I would've taken things more seriously and done a lot of things much differently.

20 years have passed, and there are many of you who I have never forgotten and I still hold you dear. I beg you to be safe this weekend as the adult beverages flow. I will be up for 4 days at Thanksgiving. I truly hope we will have the opportunity to get together and pick up where we left off. I am proud to be one of you, and I am honored to have had the opportunity to know you. Have a great time this weekend. I will be there in spirit.

Chris

All, thanks to everyone that made the reunion possible; Amy, Nathan, Margaret, Mike, and all those who attended the festivities. It was great to see everyone. Let's not let so much time get by before our next meeting. Take care and stay in touch.

I had so much fun last night! After going to the reunion I've really had some things on my mind.

Just like some of you I have lived in Burlington all my life. I remember alot of you from first grade at Grove Park! (Yes, Mrs. Martin is still there!) and some even from preschool! (Hoggard!) I've attended all four of the reunions and they have just gotten better each time! But this time it was a little bitter sweet for me. Last night made me realize that I really wish I had taken time to get to know people better in HS. I even think back to TMS and being close to people that I didn't get to see much at Williams. I loved catching up w/ Courtney Grant, Kris Huff, Andrea Kinney, Stacey Littell, Shannon O., Feamster, Velicia, Sam, Sean, Breen, Adrian W., Susan, Wendy W., etc. I think that's why Deede and I get along so well... I'm crybaby #2! I needed more time to talk w/ people last night too!

As we get older, I think we realize how precious life is, and how we should cherish the good things. My classmates of '88 are some of my good things. Some stories I remembered and some stories were brought back to me that I had forgotten. I hope we can cross paths more often and even arrange to get together some! If any of you are ever in B'town give Jason and I a call.

Thanks to Margaret, Amy & Nathan, Elizabeth, Linda and all for such a wonderful night! I hope we can keep up on this forum til the next one!

I, too, enjoyed the evening! Thanks to all that had a hand in planning and carrying out this event. I agree that we all have aged well. It's soo great to rekindle all of those old friendships and even feel as though I have created new ones. Thanks to Mike Breen for taking us in to the club. It was great! And how fantastic to see one of our own in the band. Great job Frankie!! And to those who didn't make it, your prescence was missed. It's so hard to get the chance to speak to everyone in such a short evening but for the time we were there, once again, we were family!! 1 We are the Bulldogs! 2 A little bit louder. 3 I still can't hear you! 4 more more more 1 !!!! Go Dawgs!!!

There is so much to say about this weekend! I enjoyed every minute! Karen, did you find your husband, AGAIN? Tyra and Tonya, don't worry, your husbands ate all their vegetables! Tim Mitchell? What can i say, you're still the life of the party. Adrian, I really missed you! Kerri Ann and Jason, you're still as happy as i remember in HS. Deede, all those homecoming shows help prpare you for dancing this past weekend didn't it and you never thought it would pay off!! Nene, Lisa, and Cynyhia, you guys look incredible!! Kim, or rather "Lump" you still got it! Nancy G. ABCDEFHI and those other letters in between, i will be coming to visit vut good to see you an d catch up. Is the next sleep over at your house? Michelle Wise, we need the pickup truck to pick up "body parts" not beer cans! Monica, i think its my turn to keep the trophy. I saw you starting up the Pleasure Principle Saturday nite but i think we have Vertigo like Janet! Deon, Mike, Monya it was great seeing all of you! Michelle Fox is still Michelle Fox lol!!! There is so much more to say but i think WOW sums it all up!!!!

I'LL TAKE THAT AS A COMPLIMENT!!!! I HAD A BLAST JUST AS I ALWAYS DID!!! LET'S CUT ANOTHER RUG IN ANOTHER 20!!!!

Tonya Hill (Davis)

What a great time we had and how wonderful it was to see everyone!!! You'd think by living in Burlington, as many as there are of us, we'd see each other more often but it surely doesn't happen. We're all too busy living our own lives we don't take time getting together with OLD FRIENDS. I had a blast! Tyra and I (and our hubbies) shut The Raven down a little after 2:00am. Pyrtle and The Dickens were awesome! And for those of you left a little early Matt Barbour did a fine job as well! You haven't lost it, Matt. Brings back great memories.

Tim, Tim Mitchell, where are you? Get your profile on here. LOVE the suit - You look great!

And oh my gosh!!! Monya, you could scare somebody, you know???!! Monya's standing there, all 6 foot-something, by the DJ with his arms crossed, dark glasses on, hat on and great big ole shoes - just watchin'. I was dancing (if that's what you call it) and HAD to ask Jason Brown who it was. Dang, Monya, loosen up. Jokin' Jokin'! We all know you were at ease!

Thanks to Margaret, Nathan, Linda and all the others who helped organize the reunion. I soooo appreciate you guys! This website will remain up and running, right?

Sniff, Sniff, you guys make me cry as I read all your posts. I've never thought of it like family but no doubt we are. I called Tyra and sure enough she was cryin' too. We're so lucky to have grown up. I look at teenagers today and hope that I wasn't like them. I dread my daughter will pay me back for all the grief I gave my parents. With that said, I still do not admit I was as silly as they are now. I know I acted like an idiot to some folks (at least I remember that from middle school) and, like Stacy, please forgive me! Would you believe my frontal lobe wasn't fully developed? Seriously, I miss HS but know that I am who I am because of all the experiences and wouldn't trade most of it for the world.

I'm truely glad that I chose to stay home for the reunion vs going to the Carolina/Virginia football game, though I proudly wore my VA sweatsuit on Sunday! WOO HOO, go Cavaliers! They rank just after Duke in my book! Could I have possibly opened a can-a-worms here?

I must close but remember that you all are in my thoughts and if you're in B-town give me a call. I'll work you in my schedule! :0) :0)

Love bunches, Tonya

Hey folks. I had a great time reuniting on Saturday night. That kind of event sort of let's one know both how much we have stayed the same over the years as well as how far we have come. I have gone back and read most of what everyone wrote on the message forum from the days leading up to the reunion. I can certainly relate to the high-school angst many of you have talked about. I could never cut myself any slack back in high school and never felt like anything I did was good enough. I am still pretty hard on myself, but I think I have mostly gotten over beating myself up for every small thing that goes wrong. A lot can be said for the whole "Don't sweat the small stuff, and everything is small stuff" philosophy. I may still get there. I took me many years to be able to remember high school and college with only fondness. Seems that time, and some perspective, does actually heal most wounds. I am glad to have seen some people I haven't seen since prior reunions. I have also managed to but myself up on Facebook (trying to keep up with what those crazy kids are up to these days), so stop by and say hello. Take care.

I screwed around and forgot to say thanks to everyone who helped put together the reunion. Thanks to Nathan, Amy, Linda, Elizabeth, and anyone and everyone who had a hand in putting things together and making the weekend happen. Oh, and thanks to Tim Mitchell for wearing a pink suit. Tim, when they were handing out style, I think you went through line twice.

Does anybody's head still hurt 2 days later? That would be indicative of a "GREAT" time in my book. My hat is off to all! Twenty years later and we can still throw down! By the way 4am breakfast at IHOP is da bomb!

Dang Joe! Not all of us had an empty house to come home to! But good job on lasting so long! We had fun huh! next time i'll make sure no one gets the spouses mixed up with the husbands! Poor Courtney Grant! Too funny!

And as far as the next one... I say we do some get togethers in town here! The class of '89 meets at the Ale House on a regular basis! Not a bad idea to do!
