Losing Jeff just before the start of our senior year was difficult. I can honestly say that I think of him to this day. Jeff, you were a great soul. We shared many a great times on the soccer field and just hanging out.

I first met Jeff when I was in 5th grade - in Greensboro! We quickly became friends as he was one of the 1st people to be nice to the new girl. I later moved back to Burlington, having no idea Jeff was from there too. Guess who showed up our freshmen year! Our paths crossed many times after that.
I will never forget the day I heard that Jeff had died. I knew he'd been sick (way back in 5th grade) but didn't realize he was still fighting the battle. I will never forget Jeff...

I started school with Jeff in kindergarten in Burlington. He left for Greensboro around the fifth grade then returned to Burlington for High School. Jeff was sick (leukemia) when he was very young and I can still remember trying to understand why he was so sick. When he came back to Burlington for high school it was great to reconnect and to play soccer with him. I cannot watch a soccer game and not think about how strong Jeff was to be out playing with us. He was a good friend. Jason, you said it well, "Jeff, you were a good soul."

Jeff was quick to accept me and Tyra as newcomers our freshman year. I don't remember knowing that he was sick and like everyone else was devastated to hear of his death. Tyra was especially close to him. He was such a wonderful person and I never think of him without smiling!

Jeff and I became buddies our freshman year because he was on the soccer team and Tonya and I were soccer managers. I never knew what it was that drew me to him. His wonderful personality, no doubt.
In 10th grade he was quizzing us about being twins. We told him that although we are twins and are only 5 minutes apart, we have different birthdays - Tonya 3/9/70 11:57pm and Tyra 3/10/70 12:02am. We didn't realize until our following birthday that he still believed us. :-)
I treasure a picture that he gave me. On the back he wrote about "always being bestest buddies" and to this day he is one of my bestest buddies!
A few weeks ago I drove by the house he lived in and wondered how his parents are, if they still live there and thought about how happy Jeff always seemed to be and how it always rubbed off on me. He was so awesome!
See you later bestest buddy!!!
Tyra

I am smiling reading all of the posts about Jeff. He was so nice and sincere. I babysat his little brother and worked with his mom, Nita for several years even after his death. If I was down about something he made it his job to cheer me up and make me laugh. We seemed to get in trouble in class for talking alot.
I remember watching movies one day with his little brother and he liked to impersonate the actors. He was alot of fun. He'll be with us tomorrow night.
