Jack L. Cicco

Jack Cicco, affectionately known as “Mutt”, of Fleming Island, Florida passed away peacefully at his home on September 8, 2020 at the age of 73. Jack was born on October 19, 1946 in Butler, Pennsylvania to William and Mary Cicco. Jack attended Butler Area Senior High School and then enlisted in the United States Navy in 1964, proudly serving his country during the Vietnam War. While serving on the USS New Orleans early in his career he was a Naval Aircrewman and participated in the Gemini Capsule recovery program of NASA. Jack retired as Senior Chief from the Navy in 1987.

Jack was united in Holy Matrimony to the late Barbara Theone Cicco on May 9th, 1968. Through Jack’s military career, they lived in San Diego, California, Lakehurst, New Jersey, Lisbon Falls, Maine while raising two beloved sons. They were socially active and will be most remembered for hosting The Annual Cicco Fishing Tournament.

Jack was a dedicated family man that never missed an opportunity to spend time with his children and grandchildren. Jack was known as a straight shooter, seldomly leaving his thoughts to himself. Jack had a great sense of humor and his many friends will remember his love for fishing, golf, and telling a good story.

Jack is preceded in death by his wife, Barbara, his parents William and Mary Cicco, his sisters Diane Ellis and Janice Crispen, brothers David, Robert, Michael, and Timothy, as well as his cherished Yorkshire Terriers, Tinker and Sally.

Jack is survived by his children Vincent (Dineen) Cicco of Tallahassee, Florida and Anthony (Mary Catherine) Cicco of Braselton, Georgia and two grandchildren Dominic and Gabriella as well as many nieces and nephews.

Jack will be interred with Barbara’s remains as their final resting place at Jacksonville National Cemetery. Services will be on Monday at 11:00 AM at Jacksonville Memory Gardens, 111 Blanding Blvd., Orange Park, FL. He will receive military honors at 2:30 PM at the National Cemetery for immediate family only. “The Last Garage Time” to celebrate Jack’s life will be held at 5:00 PM at the Cicco’s residence. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Jack’s life.

The family has requested in lieu of flowers memorial contributions be provided in Jack’s name to a charity of your choosing that supports Veterans who have served their country.

RIP my great friend of 60 yrs. I will miss our phone calls and the many laughs we had. I will miss the golfing at the class reunions , I will miss the walking around the friday night at the reunions like it was Tumble Inn, but most of all I will miss you and the laughs we had, " LOVE YA MAN "
