Michelle Barrineau Moyer

I graduated from Newberry College in 1992 with degrees in Early Childhood Development and Elementary Education. I met my future husband, Michael, at Newberry and followed him to his hometown, Johnston,SC, where I got my first job teaching 5th grade at Wardlaw Academy. In 1993, we got married and bought a home in Ridge Spring (a tiny rural town known for its peaches and pecans), where we still live today. I have spent the last 14 years teaching 6th grade and now 3rd grade for Aiken County Public Schools. Michael is a Health Physicist in the nuclear field and his office is in Augusta, GA. We spend most of our free time with our family and church, Faith Lutheran in Batesburg. As you might imagine with three boys, many of our activites involve sports of every kind! The past 20 years have flown by so quickly, leaving in their wake many wonderful and happy memories. I feel I have been very blessed in my life!

I have many fun memories of CHS... late nights working on the school newspaper with Lori, Rita, Mrs. B and the others. Band was a lot of work, but lots of fun... Band camp at Erskine(Senior year all of us playing pranks on Mr. Wertz and Wylie and stringing kudzu through the hall. Not much else to do in Due West!)...All-State at Furman (Beth and I eating Krispy Creme and listening to Air Supply, weren't we so cheesy?). Who could forget all of the football games and competitions, Disney World, etc. I remember having to march into the games at attention in front of Todd McDonald our senior year. (I won't say what he always did to vex me, but let's just say that he wasn't as innocent as that cute baby-face smile made made him seem!) There was the time Leslie and I carved our names into the bleachers of the old gym (that was about as delinquent as I got back then!) Lots of innocent and happy memories with Lara, Christine, Heather, Tammy... lots of other sweet friends. I will always cherish those high school years.
