Carol Phillips Boughman

Highlights: Larry and I met in Spartanburg, SC at prayer meeting. I had taken a year off to work as a dental assistant/receptionist after one year at Southern. Larry and I were married after our sophomore year at Southwestern in 1967. Larry was drafted in 1969, and we went to Germany for nearly two years. Jill was born in Frankfurt. Phillip and Jason were both born in Hot Springs, AR, where Larry taught for 4 years before moving to Wilson, NC for 7 years. I was a stay at home mom. We were called by the GC in 1983, to teach for the Far Eastern Division in the Philippines. After 6 years, we went to Andrews on study leave. Just weeks before we were to return, Phillip was killed in a tragic accident. After Larry got his PhD, he worked part time for the Far Eastern Division in the Ed. Dept. and part time for AIIAS. I continued to teach at the elementary school. Then, we moved to Hawaii where he was Ed. Supt. for almost five years, and I taught in Kailua. After leaving Hawaii, he was Supt. in the Kentucky Tennessee Conference for 13 1/2 years. A lot of my time was spent helping with the care of my parents. I wanted to be free to travel with Larry, so I worked occasionally at Nourish/ABC. We have both just retired and are thoroughly enjoying it.

I remember having to work in the laundry for three hours because I had a piece of paper in my mouth, and "they" wouldn't believe I wasn't chewing gum. ?? Maybe that's not funny!!!
