I had an exciting 30 year career with the National Park Service. I worked as a Park Ranger and Chief Ranger in NPS areas coast to coast; Zion NP, Grand Canyon NP, Glen Canyon NRA, Yellowstone NP, Boston NHP and Santa Monica Mountains NRA. I was involved in law enforcement, fire protection and search and rescue. It was a rewarding career.
I retired in 2003. My wife Linda and I retired to central California. The weather is great. No snow to shovel, but from our picture windows we can see the Sierras covered in snow in winter. We are active in our church and enjoy our retirement. I enjoy taking photographs which is my website. Linda enjoys painting and grandchildren. We also love to travel.
Of course the many times we restacked all the desk on the first floor in Old Main. Yes it wasn't the faculty and the pastors whom the girls thought did it.
Also there was the time when a few of us "Macho Boys", no names mentioned, picked up one of the large sandstone blocks along the back parking lot to Old Main. We slowly moved it towards the back door to the "Girl's Dorm". Inching our way along. We were just about to drop the stone, weighing over 300 lbs to block the door, when out of the darkness a deep voice from Pastor Simonson "Where you boys going with that stone". We froze in place. It was a bigger struggle to work it back to the parking lot. Pastor Simonson gave us a firm lecture.
It many ways, I feel that Augustana Academy through all the lessons learned and experienced gained continues to be an anchor in my life.
