I have lived in MN most of the time since graduation except for a few other stints here and there. I graduated from nursing school in Mpls. in 1969. We had our own business for 20+ years doing carpet cleaning and janitorial in Cloquet which is about 20 miles southwest of Duluth. It is beautiful there but cold more than hot!! In 1999 we sold the janitorial portion of the business to our son who lives there and in 2007 he took over the carpet cleaning, also. In February of 2007, we moved here to Kansas City, MO to be a part of the International House of Prayer. It is a 24/7 place of prayer and worship which has gone on non-stop since 1997. Every 2 hours a different worship group takes over leading. The main prayer room holds about 700 people...sometimes it is full; at other times only a few. It is a place where one can come and go day and night. There are also a number of schools here including a 4 year music academy, school of ministry and a number of other internships that train mostly young people to be lovers of God and walk in obedience and love back to the Lord. My husband and I are involved in the marriage equipping center that is being formed, plus we lead a small group for couples in our home every week. Our home is also a place of hospitality where we have people stay who come to visit here or just need a temporary place to stay. So far, we have had people from several nations at our house. This is a very international base with people from all over the world. The basic purpose here is to be prayer missionaries who pray for nations, cities, people, government leaders, churches, etc. Most are full time here and raise their own support just as if they were in a foreign country. 3/9/23 We are still going strong here in Kansas City!! Love what we do!!! No time for too much mischief!! haha!!!!!
I have many good memories from AA. Alot of them are general like the fun of dorm living and "being out on my own". I remember going down to the big dryer room where it was really hot when I was cold. I loved being in "business" with Karen Svanoe as we used to cook hotdogs (actually fry them in butter...how yummy is that!!), serve chips, donuts, and other things between 9:30 and 10 pm to the other girls in the dorm. I look back on the majesty of Old Main and all the experiences with teachers, etc. I loved working in the office with the Meacham's after school and I think sometimes on Saturdays. My freshman year I remember working in the Canteen. Of course, we can't forget about the toilet paper fiasco our senior year. Do all you guys remember it by any chance??? I remember very interesting conversations with Mr. Vanderpan during study halls, babysitting Mr. Boyum's children in the evenings, the really messy room Linda Boulanger and I had on weekends of our freshman year! Some of my friends over the years have had such bad memories of high school but I have such good memories for which I am so thankful.
