Hello Mercy girls Class of 80. I am shocked that 30 years has passed since we graduated. I sure do not feel like I am closer to 50 than 40! I have many memories of attending Mercy and just as many of riding that bus down from Auburn/Newcastle every day.

After graduating from Mercy, I went on to Chico State and graduated with a degree in Political Science and Public Administration. I moved to Sacramento and eventually found myself working Human Resources. I was set up on a blind date with Mark Lowe in 1988 by a co-worker, who described him as someone who you would want to date but not marry. I bet you can guess how the story ended we moved to Carmichael and have been happily married for 19 years. In 1994 our son Kyle was born followed by our son Zach in 1998.

In 1995 I went to work at Foundation later Health Net, in the Human Resources Employee Benefits Department. I eventually ended up in the HR Information Systems Department.

When it was time to sign Kyle up for kindergarten, I knew I did not want him in public school, and although we lived right by St. John’s in Carmichael, I really wanted the boys to go to St. Joseph’s in Auburn. So, we sold our house and moved to an apartment at my parents that was converted from the old barn. During that time, I had dreams of living the country life but soon learned my sons and husband did not want to move irrigation and raise barn animals so we bought a house in Lincoln.

I remained at Health Net until 1995 when they relocated our department to Woodland Hills and took some time off. I actually went back to Health Net for 6 months as a consultant and then took some more time off. When I was serious about looking for another job, I decided to see if I could find something closer to home. I had too many years of driving the boys to school in Auburn from Lincoln, only to drive to Rancho Cordova to work, and home to Lincoln.

I am glad I decided to look for employment close to home because I found a job in 2006 with Placer County in Auburn. So, I am finally putting a little of that Public Administration degree to work. I love the fact my commute is mostly on country roads with no traffic, and a lot less stress than what I endured at Health Net.

My life is all about my family, as Mark and I are devoted to our boys. Kyle is now a sophomore at Lincoln High and Zach is a sixth grader at St. Joseph’s. They both play sports and play each sport on multiple teams. We are a year round sports family and I would not have it any other way.

I look back on my Mercy days as the most carefree of my life. I met a lot of wonderful women and can not wait to see you all at the reunion.
