Stayed in Illinois until 1979 (except for 4 years in the Air Force) working for Commonwealth Edison. Moved to Orlando, Fl in 1979 and went to work for the local cable company. Changed jobs to Pizza Time Theatre (the original Chuck E. Cheese company) and eventually moved to the Atlanta, GA in 1982.
Since being in the Atlanta area I have been the Director of a local Technical School for five years (1986 - 1991), back in the cable TV industry with a contracting company in 1991 - 1996 and then with Scientific Atlanta, Inc since 1996 which was subsequently acquired by Cisco Systems in 2006.
In 2008 I fulfilled a life long ambition to get my pilot's license. I started my training in 1970 back in Elgin and put it on hold in 1972 while in the Air Force and while I was raising my family.
I've been married to my wife, Barbara, since 1971 and we will celebrate our 48th anniversary this year.
I am blessed to have a great wife and a great family. My oldest son and his family live in Charlotte, NC. My youngest son and family are residents in the Atlanta area.
Life has been great as I hope it has been for everyone. The only classmate I have had any semi-regular contact with has been Jim Elsner.
My wife and I have enjoyed attending the DCI (Drum Corps International) competition here in Atlanta the last several years. The loss of Doyle Heffron was tough when he passed. He was an inspiration to all of us in the band.
July of 2011 I decided to accept an early retirement package from Cisco Systems. I made the decision to stay retired and became the President of the local EAA (Experimental Aircraft Association) chapter in 2014.
In October of 2015 we started a program for youth 14 and up. They come out on Saturdays and work building airplanes and learning how to use tools and construction techniques. In exchange for their time they earn credits that can be used for flight training. It has been very rewarding watching these kids learn things that might have otherwise not learned.
I only spent two years at DCHS. My junior year I had perfect attendance. In the first week of my senior year I broke my arm playing sand lot football and spent the next six weeks in the hospital. My first week back at school we had our assembly where I was presented with my perfect attendance award for the previous year.

Jim was a friend and a servant of God thorughout his life. My wife and I got to visit him at his church in Indiana one time and attend the service there followed by a congregational luncheon. I am sorry to lose him, but know he is in his forever home now. My condolences to Elaine and Steve for the loss of husband and father. R.I.P. my friend.
