My Dad's illness and his admittance to Hine's Veteran's Hospital in 1968 forced me to leave DCHS prior to graduating to help my Mother and sisters run the family dairy farm for the next 2 years. That being said, I want you all to know how much it means to me that dispite not being in the graduating class as such, that you have allowed me the chance to re-unite with classmates, many of which I shared classes with ever since Dundee Grade School in Mrs. Perry's 3rd grade classroom!
It's funny how after working locally at Sears in commissioned sales for 17 years and then selling cars at a Dundee car dealership for 8 years, I had only crossed paths with 4 or 5 former classmates in all those years.
Never guessed when I was sitting in Room 213, the large study hall at DJHS, that 15 years later I would have been working across the street at Spring Hill Mall (where the old Platt-Hill Nursery was). I wonder what happened to those old yellow Chevy roofless flatbed trucks they used to drive at the nursery....probably on E Bay now?
I have been married (my 2nd) for 8 years now and live in Loves Park, just north of Rockford.
Have been a sales manager with Dent Wizard for the past 10 years and deal with auto dealerships and body shops in the northwest 'burbs.
Still drive a 1970 Opel GT (have owned Opels ever since the 1971 "gas crunch" of $1 per gallon!) Now own and restore 4 of them!
Both of my daughters from my first marriage live locally so I see them on a regular basis as well as the grandkids.
We are attending my neice's wedding in Wi. on Oct. 3rd as well but are going to do our best to juggle both that and still make the reunion!
40 years of doing nothing on Saturday nights, and then, Bingo!, two things come up on the same date! Go figure!
