ALGONQUIN - John R. Berg, 62, a life-long Algonquin resident, died Sunday October 18, 2015 along with his special friend, Viola Flores, while vacationing in Clearwater Beach Florida as the result of a tragic accident. John was the loving father to Matthew (Stephanie) Berg; dear brother to Marcy (Don) Wright, Marjie (Al) Heinke; fond uncle Diz to John (Vanessa) Wright, Tracy (Heinke) Spitzer, David (Krista) Heinke, Dawn (David) Stephen, Heather (Alan) Barbor and Jennifer Smith. He is also survived by his former spouse, Lois (Smith) Berg. John is preceded in death by his parents, Rudy and Dorothy (Reay) Berg, and a nephew Mark Wright. John graduated from Irving Crown High School in 1971 where he played trumpet in the band and continued to Denver Automotive where he became a lifelong ASE certified Master Technician. He was an avid fan of automobiles of all types, he enjoyed fishing, his vacations in Florida, music, especially the band Chicago and also had a passion for cooking and gourmet food. John could also frequently be spotted with one of his beloved dogs. A Memorial visitation will be held for John on Saturday November 7, 2015 from 10:00am to 1:00pm with a service immediately following at Willow Funeral Home, 1415 W Algonquin Rd, Algonquin IL.
