Back in 1967, when The Seekers returned home to Australia for a visit, little did they know that their free concert at the Myer Music Bowl in their home town of Melbourne would break attendance records for the Southern hemisphere and TV ratings records for Australia!
Hey there, Georgy girl
Swingin' down the street so fancy-free
Nobody you meet could ever see
The loneliness there
Inside you
Hey there, Georgy girl
Why do all the boys just pass you by?
Could it be you just don't try
Or is it the clothes you wear?
You're always window-shopping
But never stopping to buy
So shed those dowdy feathers and fly
A little bit
Hey there, Georgy girl
There's another Georgy deep inside
Bring out all the love you hide
And, oh, what a change there'd be
The world would see
A new Georgy girl https://genius.com/The-seekers-georgy-girl-lyrics
Paramahansa Yogananda from the lecture: A NEW LOOK at the Origin and Nature of Cosmic Creation (a lecture given by Paramahansa Yogananda, Encinitas, Ca. Sept. 29, 1940, you can read the entire lecture in the book; The Divine Romance, available at Amazon.)
“But it must be remembered that God is dreaming it all; that this cosmic creation is nothing more than a dream condensation of God’s thoughts. The first differentiation of Spirit was the manifestation of pure thought. Then, projected out of the thought seed of His consciousness, came light, cosmic light. Consciousness and light are the same, except that light is of greater density. The thought of light is finer than the dream of light, in the same way that the thought of fire is purely a mental concept, but the dream of fire is a perceptible image.”
“After God had willed light into dream existence, He contemplated what He had created. “Well,” He thought, “this is not exactly what I want, just light spread all over cosmic space. There should be something more tangible.” So He empowered that dream cosmic light to become definite forms. Now here again, do not forget the word dream in connection. If you take away the dream concept, you will find this creation hopelessly mystifying.”
“Today you are here and tomorrow you are gone. When you pass over to the life after death, this whole world will become as a dream to you. The astral world is not the ultimate liberating experience; the soul attains complete ascension only through realization of its oneness with the Creator Himself. Meditation is nothing magical; it is the natural process of doing away with attachment to the flesh and transferring your consciousness to the spiritual side of your nature.” From a lecture by Yogananda on “Connecting Your Life with the Astral World”
August 15, 1971 - Richard Nixon Closes the Gold Window
Yea, Ra, 71! I thought some of you would find this interesting.
A colleague recently discovered a website called "WTF Happened in 1971?" The entire main page is filled with charts and graphs. All of them show some kind of significant shift beginning in 1971. There are over 75 of them! President Richard Nixon severed the dollar's last connection with the gold standard, making it a purely free-floating fiat currency. Nixon ordered Treasury Secretary John Connally (who was in the Limo when “they” shot JFK) to uncouple gold from its fixed $35 an ounce price and suspended the ability of foreign banks to directly exchange dollars for gold. During a national television address, Nixon promised the action would be temporary to “defend the dollar against the speculators."
Nixon’s order was the end of a path off the gold standard that started during President Franklin D. Roosevelt’s administration. June 5, 1933, marked the beginning of a slow death of the dollar when Congress enacted a joint resolution erasing the right of private creditors in the United States to demand payment in gold. The move was the culmination of other actions taken by Roosevelt that year, including his infamous "gold confiscation" order.
While American citizens were legally prohibited from redeeming dollars for gold after Roosevelt's policy changes, foreign governments maintained that privilege. In the 1960s, the Federal Reserve initiated an inflationary monetary policy to help monetize massive government spending for the Vietnam War and Pres. Lyndon Johnson’s “Great Society.” With the dollar losing value due to these inflationary policies, foreign governments began to redeem dollars for gold.
When he announced the closing of the gold window, Nixon said, “Let me lay to rest the bugaboo of what is called devaluation,” and promised, “Your dollar will be worth just as much as it is today.” This was clearly a lie. That's what all the charts on WTF Happened in 1971 reveal. According to the Consumer Price Index data released by the Bureau Labor of Statistics, the dollar has lost well over 80 percent of its value since Nixon’s fateful decision. Meanwhile, the dollar value of gold has gone from $35 an ounce to about $2,300. And it decimated the middle class, creating significant socio-economic shifts. https://www.zerohedge.com/economics/what-world-happened-1971
JPA: while Maritn Armstrong does say massive money printing causes inflation what causes HYPERINFLATION is loss of CONFIDENCE. We can clearly see how the American people are losing CONFIDENCE in their government, and rightly so!

Irving Crown Class of “71” For all that are interested, this is a reminder – We are skipping meeting for breakfast the month of September. The next breakfast we are looking at will be Oct 24th. WOW its been a month since the party – How time flies. By all feedback everyone had a great time – it seemed everything went smoothly and was enjoyed by all. We have been asked about having a party next year. With that we need input, (suggestions) from everyone we can get. I have gone through both the Class Roll from our Commencement and the pictures in the 1970 yearbook. Anne has been getting contact information together – and we need everybody helping gathering this information. In the class roll there are 332 listed and in the 1970 year book there are 352 listed. Also – We’ve had about 52 classmates pass, 48 planned on coming and 4 had to cancel at the last minute, and about 5 others came at the last minute. It was good to see everyone.
Patsy Cline (born Virginia Patterson Hensley; September 8, 1932 – March 5, 1963) was an American singer from the state of Virginia. She is considered one of the most influential vocalists of the 20th century and was one of the first country music artists to cross over into pop music. Cline had several major hits during her eight-year recording career, including two number-one hits on the BillboardHot Country and Western Sides chart.
Since her death, Cline has been cited as one of the most celebrated, respected, and influential performers of the 20th century. Her music has influenced performers of various styles and genres. She has also been seen as a forerunner for women in country music, being among the first to sell records and headline concerts. In 1973, she became the first female performer to be inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame.
On June 14, 1961, Cline and her brother Sam Hensley Jr. were involved in an automobile accident. Cline had brought her mother, sister and brother to see her new Nashville home the day before. On the day of the accident, Cline and her brother went shopping to buy material for her mother to make clothing. Upon driving home, their car was struck head-on by another vehicle. The impact threw her directly into the car windshield, causing extensive facial injuries. Among her injuries, Cline suffered a broken wrist, dislocated hip and a large cut across her forehead, barely missing her eyes. Friend Dottie West heard about the accident via the radio and rushed to the scene, helping to remove pieces of broken glass from Cline's hair. When first responders arrived, Cline insisted the driver in the other vehicle be treated first. Two of the three passengers riding in the car that struck Cline died after arriving at the hospital. When she was brought to the hospital, her injuries were life-threatening and she was not expected to live. She underwent surgery and survived. According to her husband Charlie Dick, upon waking up she said to him, "Jesus was here, Charlie. Don't worry. He took my hand and told me, 'No, not now. I have other things for you to do.'" She spent a month recovering in the hospital. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Patsy_Cline
If we have a 55 year reunion my vote is to have it at LakeLawn. I really liked that place. I would be for having it in mid October when they have their Halloween decorations up. Of course, the bad side is I might have too much to drink and fall into the fire pit! Perhaps keeping fire extinguishers close by would be a good idea.
We will have to wait until the first part of 2026 to see what others want. I don’t have a very good feeling about 2025. I believe this election will be decided in the Supreme Court as the Democrats are going to allow the illegals to vote. I’m concerned about civil unrest, as they have divided us on purpose, we shall see.
Those are my thoughts anyhow. Can’t believe it will soon be Halloween.
I like this video because you see Morrison in his “Blue Lady”.
Jim Morrison of the music group The Doors, whose instantly recognizable voice belted out a string of rock hits that included “Light My Fire” and “Riders on the Storm,” owned just one car in his lifetime, a 1967 Ford Shelby GT500 that he called “The Blue Lady.” What happened to the car is a mystery. So was the man.
Morrison did more than get by. After “Light My Fire” topped the record charts in 1967, The Doors became huge stars, practically overnight. Elektra Records founder and president Jac Holzman was so thrilled with his label’s first #1 hit that he offered to reward the band members with whatever gift they wanted. Manzerak and Krieger asked for state-of-the-art reel-to-reel tape recorders. Densmore chose a horse. Morrison, the thrill-seeking frontman, went for horsepower.
As the story goes, Morrison wasn’t sure what car he wanted until he saw the Shelby Mustang GT350 owned by his hair stylist, Jay Sebring. Holtzman not only agreed to buy Morrison a Shelby, he upgraded it to a new Nightmist Blue GT500 with a 355-horsepower, 428-cubic-inch V-8, mated to a four-speed manual. Only 2000 or so were built. https://www.hagerty.com/media/car-profiles/50-years-jim-morrisons-death-1967-shelby-gt500/
"Light My Fire" is a song by the American rock band the Doors. Although it was principally written by the band's guitarist, Robby Krieger, songwriting was credited to the entire band. Recognized as one of the earliest examples of psychedelic rock, it was recorded in August 1966 and released in January 1967 on their eponymous debut album. Due to its erotic lyrics and innovative structure, the track has come to be regarded as synonymous with the '60s psychedelic and sexual revolutions.
Robert Alan Krieger (born January 8, 1946) is an American guitarist and founding member of the rock band the Doors. Krieger wrote or co-wrote many of the Doors' songs, including the hits "Light My Fire", "Love Me Two Times", "Touch Me", and "Love Her Madly".
Krieger's fingerstyle approach to the electric guitar, broad musical tastes, and songwriting helped establish the Doors as a successful rock band in the 1960s. Together with Densmore, he studied under Indian sitarist Ravi Shankar at the Kinnara School of Music in Los Angeles.
Nestled between the coastal towns of Cardiff-by-the-Sea, Encinitas, California, Swami’s Beach stands as a symbol of Southern California's unique blend of surf culture, spiritual vibes, and stunning natural beauty. Referred to as "Swami’s Reef'" or just "Swamis" by the locals, this beach is an internationally known surfing spot due its nice point break and excellent weather.
Swami’s State beach received its name after the founder of SRF (1920), Swami Paramahansa Yogananda. Surfers would see him walking on the beach all the time and decided it was a perfect nickname to give to the beach. https://70milesofcoast.com/swamis-state-beach/
Ricky Nelson & Lorrie Collins - Just Because - 1958
Lawrencine May "Lorrie" Collins (May 7, 1942 – August 4, 2018) was an American country, rockabilly and rock and roll singer. Beginning in the mid-1950s, she and her brother, Larry Collins, performed as the Collins Kids.
In the late 1950s, Lorrie was the girlfriend of television star and teen idol Ricky Nelson, on both the Nelson family's top-rated show The Adventures of Ozzie & Harriet and in private life. She made her debut on January 22, 1958 in an episode entitled "The Picture in Rick's Notebook" in which she played the dual role of twin sisters (one being David Nelson's girlfriend and the other Ricky's potential paramour). In this first episode, Nelson and Lorrie duetted on "Just Because" which had been one of the Collins Kids' signature songs (Lorrie played her own guitar and covered the name "Collins" on the neck with her left hand). A month later, Larry made a guest appearance on the show in an episode entitled "Who is Betty?", which aired on February 19, 1958.
