I have no idea why I ever took any kind of chorus classes! Those of you who sat around me can testify to the fact that I can't carry a tune (Pam sat right by me, poor dear!) I swear that I can remember Mrs. Masters saying something to me about just standing in the back and not singing too loudly. Maybe I imagined that. Mrs. Masters sure got some pretty sounds out of all of us, didn't she?Sandy Malone (Brashier)
I had Ms. Masters in girl's chorus when I was a sophomore. I guess besides Ms. Barnes (9th grade), Ms. Masters was one of my favorite teachers. I took piano lessons from her and she also selected me as one of the members of the Girl's Ensemble after having to sing a solo to "Walk on By". I was so nervous. I will always remember her.Debra Hood-Woods
Mrs. Masters has always been one of my favorite teachers. She encouraged me and believe in my potential as a singer. I remember making Girl's Ensemble, and her asking me to try out for All District Choir. With her constant encouragement, I tried out and made it. It was a real treat to get to travel and sing with others around the state. It was because of her encouragement that I have continued to develop my musical abilities. On May 16, 1974 a photograph of the two of us was taken as she handed me a music award, during our Senior Awards Assembly. That photo was later published in the Caruthersville Journal. I've kept a copy in my memory book all these years. My love and respect goes out to a great teacher who encouraged us all to do our best . . . not just in music, but in life.
