ROCHESTER, MINN: Jack W. Greiner, 60, died Thursday, August 25, 2011 at home after fighting a courageous 13 month battle with cancer.

A celebration of his life will be held at Victory Baptist Church, 606 36th Ave. SE, Rochester, MN on Sunday, August 28, 2011 from 4:00-7:00pm. A memorial service will be held at 4:30pm at the church on Monday, August 29, 2011, with Pastor Darrel Mohler officiating.

Jack grew up in Cary, Illinois and moved to Rochester in 1979. “Zeke” worked at Mister Muffler as an auto mechanic for 15 years, he owned his own auto repair shop (Motor Tech, Inc.) and was most recently employed by the Rochester Public School District (Longfellow).

Jack purchased his first Harley in 2001 and the “hobby” began! He and Sue spent most of their free time on his bike touring the country. For the “celebration” on Sunday, everyone is encouraged to dress casual; wear a Harley T-shirt in Jack's honor!

His greatest joy was spending time with his grandchildren. He is survived by his loving wife of 38 years, Susan; son, Jonathan (Suzanne) Greiner of Thornton, CO; daughter, Catherine “Katie” Greiner of Rochester; four grandchildren, Quentin, Reece, Reagan, Rylan; his mother, Eileen Greiner of Cary, IL; his two sisters, Kim LaFranzo of Cary, IL and Sue Greiner of Westcliffe, CO and twelve nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Jack E. Greiner, and one infant grandson, Riley Cooper Greiner.

Memorials may be made to the family. Arrangements entrusted to Ranfranz and Vine Funeral Homes', 5421 Royal Place N.W. Rochester, MN 55901 507-289-3600 www.ranfranzandvinefh.com

This is a message that Sue posted shortly after Jack passed on Jack's Carepage:

Jack passed away Thursday evening around 6:10pm. He could not catch his breath after walking to the bathroom. He made it to the bed and I was at his side when he took his last breath. It happened so quickly and suddenly and I do not believe he felt any pain or suffering

Thank you all for your wonderful support and prayers during this long trial that Jack and I faced together with you our family and friends.

P.S. I will always be eternally grateful to Sue in her postings of Jack's situation. I for one, was inspired by Jack's tenacity  in dealing with his cancer battle. He put up a valiant fight. I think a lot of his fight was for his family and his strong will. You will be missed, Jack. May you find eternal Peace with our Heavenly Father. Peace be with You.
