Franceen Marshall (Hopkins)
It was a lucky day for me in 9th grade when I got assigned a desk beside both Nancy Stanton and Maureen Ellis. They both became good friends andI never stopped being amazed at how smart and capable and interesting Nancy was -- she seemed to be born always knowing just exactly the right thing to do in any situation. Nancy and I also shared a desk in 9th grade Biology -- which I'm sure was the maiin reason I got an A in Biology -- Nancy was a better teacher than our actual teacher! It was such a pleasure to get re-acquainted with her at the last couple of reunions that we attended -- I just wish her time with us could have been longer. -- Fran Hopkins
Judi Holliday (Doing)
Nancy graduated first in our class, then earned her undergraduate degree from Creighton and a Ph.D in ecology from the University of Chicago. She and Jim Thompson (NCHS ’61) were married in the early ‘70s and returned to Wyoming. Nancy served as Chair of the Department of Zoology during her three decades as a professor at the University of Wyoming. Among her many accomplishments, Nancy developed a program to replace snow fences with trees along some of Wyoming’s wind-swept highways. Nancy’s husband, Jim, plans to attend the reunion dinner on Saturday, July 7, and looks forward to seeing her classmates.

I remember Nancy as being very bright and number one in our class academically. However, I also remember Nancy as one who was easy to talk to. She was a good listener and a caring person. She will be missed. I'm glad that Jim will be at our reunion.
