2019 Alumni Band
The weekend of 2/8 - 2/10/2019 we saw our last "official" Alumni Band reunion at Castro Valley High School.
It was great reconnecting and playing together! Gene Graves, the first instrumental music director at Castro Valley High (1956), returned and conducted the band in Nimrod From Enigma Variations (Elgar). We were also privileged to have Dr Brent Heisinger (https://www.brentheisinger.com/) work and conduct us in his composition, Hymn for Band. And last, but certainly not least, thank you to our own Ron Quintanal (CVHS 1963) for continuing to lead the rest of the concert, getting all the music together, and all the numerous chores that come with this! Our highlights this year were Malaguena and Danse Bacchanale from Samson and Delilah.
This, our 15th reunion, sadly, is also our LAST (as of now). The leadership has grown tired and we just aren't attracting enough alumni to keep functioning.
We are looking for more ways to get the word out about our group and hope to build on what our great leadership has started.
