Dear Class of 1999

Dear BC Class of 1999 Alumni-

As our 10 year reunion approaches, the committee would just like to address some issues and concerns that have come up over the past few months. We would like to address the class as a whole instead of individually.

The Class of 1999 graduated with absolutely no extra funds in our class account. The reunion committee was formed, over the course of several months using emails, Facebook, Myspace and any other possible outlet to find alumni that would want to help.  The committee that came about has worked hard and diligently to raise money by garage sales and fundraisers. We were able to raise a little more than $800 in order to have money for our reunion. With only $800 and pressed for time, we had to work with the resources that were available to us.

Issues and concerns have come up regarding our choice in venue and the ticket price. To keep tickets cost low and still try to pay for other things (i.e. catering and a  DJ), we had to find a venue that was willing to work with us and not charge us over $1200 just to rent the facility. As a favor, Wet Willies in the Vista is charging us ABSOULUTELY NOTHING to have our reunion there for a few hours.  A lot of the other venues were priced as well. The other facilities wanted to charge a rental fee in addition to all the extras like having a bar, outside catering, etc. The deposit alone would have taken most if not all of the $800. We realize that $25 might be too much to pay for just “heavy hors d'oeuvres” or “a bar setting.” But that was the lowest we could go without dipping into our own pockets to pay for the caterer and the DJ and all the extra expenses that come along with planning a reunion.

Perhaps we can ease your mind about the location. If we would have had the reunion at any other location, we would have had a cash bar. Wet Willies is serving as our cash bar (for free). A “bar” is a bar because of the patrons and the atmosphere.  Our atmosphere will be a group of friends reuniting after 10 years. This is the same atmosphere there would have been had it been somewhere like City Art instead.  The only difference here is your tickets prices are not going to be $80-100.

We apologize if our 10 year reunion doesn’t meet certain expectations. Perhaps when it is time for our 20 year reunion, we can go all out. Unfortunately, for our 10 year reunion, this is what we had to work with. We hope to see everyone there! Hopefully you will have a great night seeing old friends and reminiscing about the good old days.

Sincerely

Class of 1999 Reunion Committee
