Daniel George Haycock, age 44, died Nov. 7, 1988 near Kanab, Utah as a result of a traffic accident. Funeral services were held Friday, Nov. 11, 1988 in the Fredonia LDS chapel with military rites and burial in the Cedar City cemetery. Mr. Haycock was born May 21, 1944 in Panguitch, Utah to Elma Judd and Bernard Haycock. He and Carol Miles were married September 10, 1964 in the St. George LDS Temple. Dan moved with his family to Cedar City when he was seven years old. Dan graduated from Cedar High School in 1962 and from Southern Utah State College in 1968 with a degree in elementary education. He also recieved the first Pestalozzi award for excellence in education at SUSC. He served for several years in the Utah National Guard. In 1974 Dan revieved his masters degree in education from Northern Arizona University. He was always an active member of the LDS Church having served in the bishopric and was currently the Scoutmaster in the Fredonia First Ward. His life's work was teaching which he did in a dedicated and superior manner. Survivors include his wife, Carol, of Fredonia; sons Daniel Paul, serving in the U.S. Army in Germany, and Douglas M. of Fredonia; two daughters, Mrs. Jason (Jodi)Reber of Colorado Springs, Colorado and Tera of Fredonia; sisters, Mrs. James C. (Marba) Sandberg, Mrs, Nyal (Faye) Miller; and Evelyn Woddard, all of Cedar City, four grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Bernard Jr. Dan Haycock Memorial Scholarship Danny Haycock was the Fredonia 6th through 8th grade math teacher. Was he your friend?
