It has been difficult to really accept Jack's sudden death, even though it was now several years ago. He was responsible for keeping in touch with a number of people, and we miss that networking as well as Jack himself.
Some of you may not know that Peggy also passed away last year. She and her girls probably missed Jack most of all.
After all this time, I finally decided to look up the obituary for Jack.
Jack Lunt died September 29, 2001 of a heart attack in Salt Lake City. Jack was born Oct. 19, 1944 in West Hartford, Connecticut to Harry C. and Mary Dudis Lunt. He was a graduate of the University of Utah and the University of Utah College of Law. Following law school, Jack was a partner with the law firm of Jones, Waldo, Holbrook & McDonough. He was president of American Stores Properties and on the Board of Directors of American Stores before retirement. Presently, he was of counsel with the law firm of Curtis R. Ward & Associates. He was also a lifelong active member of the Democratic Party. Always an enthusiastic contributor to the community, Jack was presently a member of the Utahns for Choice Governing Board, the Board of Valley Mental Health, the U of U College of Fine Arts Advisory Board and the Advocates for U of U Health Sciences.
He is survived by his sister and brother-in-law, Peggy and Joe Fratto and three nieces whom he adored: Anne, Carolyn, and Lauren. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, October 4, 2001 12:30 p.m. at Neil O'Donnell & Sons, 372 East 100 South, where friends may call from 11:00 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. Graveside services will be held Friday, October 5, 2001 at 1:00 p.m. at the Cedar City Cemetery, 685 N. Main in Cedar City, Utah. Friends may call at Southern Utah Mortuary, 190 North 300 West, Cedar City on Friday from 11:30 a.m. - 12:30. p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the Jack Lunt Endowed Scholarship in the Department of Health Education, University of. Utah Development Office, 50 North Medical Drive, Salt Lake City, UT 84132.
