Our beloved father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend, Gerald (Jerry) Cleo Wood passed away and has returned to be with his parents, grandparents, and loved ones. He was born on April 30, 1944 in Cedar City, Utah to Cleo and Marie Murie Wood. Jerry was raised in Hurricane and Cedar City, Utah, but spent much of his time on the family ranches in Southern Utah and on the Arizona strip. Jerry attended CSU and BYU and served in the Utah National Guard. He married Sheila Gardner and together they were blessed with four children. They were sealed in the St. George Temple and later divorced. He was married briefly to Mary Atherton. He spend happy years married to Holly Daniels. They also later divorced. He felt an immeasurable amount of love for each of his grandchildren. Jerry had the ability to befriend everyone; he never met a stranger in his life.

He dedicated his entire life to the livestock business, and served many years in the Utah Cattlemen's Association, including a term as President. He was a great advocate of the Public Lands, and worked hard to promote the livestock industry. He had a great talent with horses, cattle, sheep and dogs.

Jerry was preceded in death by his parents Cleo and Marie Wood. He is survived by his children and grandchildren; son Lee (Linda) Wood of Cedar City, Utah and their children Jordan, Walker, Jessica, Shayla and Kyle; daughter Heidi (Les) White, also of Cedar City and their children Hayden, Landen, Hillary, Whitney and Cassie. Daughter Stephanie (Craig) Davidson of Heber City, Utah and their children Amy, Bobby, Anna and Riley and son Travis Wood of Salt Lake City. He is also survived by his sister Frances (Thomas) Bryson of Rigby, Idaho and brother McRay Wood of Lund, Utah as well as numerous beloved nieces and nephews. He had a great friend in his cousin Sylvia (Melvin) Sawyer of Orem, Utah.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, August 19, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at the Cedar 9th Ward LDS Chapel, 256 South 900 West, Cedar City, Utah. A visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 18, 2009 from 6-8 p.m. at Southern Utah Mortuary, 190 North 300 West Cedar City, Utah and again prior to services on Wednesday, August 19, 2009 from 9:30-10:30 a.m. at the 9th Ward, all under the direction of Southern Utah Mortuary. I regret that I didn't do this in time to swap yarns with Jerry before his death. We shared a lot of happy times roaming the range and cultivating habits difficult to break. He was a close neighbor and a good friend.
