Marie Elizabeth Ashdown Mangum

Cedar City, Utah

Our much beloved mother, grandmother, sister and friend passed away at home among family on October 28, 2012. Marie was born in Cedar City, Utah to Melborne and Louise Ashdown on February 13, 1944.

Marie was one of the first women in the country to run heavy equipment in the mining industry. She worked in mines in Utah, Nevada and Wyoming.

Marie is survived by her children Nola Avery, Johnna Damiano, Judy Naughton (Friday), George Mangum II (Nola), Bill Mangum (Joni). She is also survived by her siblings Sheldon (Harriett), Gary (Skipper), Bill (Celia), Butch (Colleen), Lee (Bob), Fred (Lauren), Betty (Richard), Bonnie (George), Emily (Bob), Shauna (Skip) and many precious grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Marie was preceded in death by her husband George, her brother Don, Grandson Allen and her parents.

A memorial service will be held Friday, November 02, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at the True Life Center, 2111 North Main, in Cedar City, Utah. Online condolences can be sent to www.sumortuary.com
