Mirtha first told me and Holly about Steve's death after she read it on the Duncanville HS reunion website, and after she told us, I was devastated by the news. Steve was such a fun and laid-back guy who, in high school, came across as if nothing could ever get to him.
My best memories of Steve take place in his orange jeep: cruising down Hampton in DeSoto with the top off and oinking at a cop who pulled us over and threatened to take us in (apparently, the pig reference hurt his feelings); Steve almost hitting a tree as he took Mirtha and me mudding, and laughing so hard afterwards that I could barely sit up straight; and cruising along with the top off and screaming the words to "Let's Go All the Way" and Van Halen's (Van Hagar's) "Higher and Higher". I especially remember Steve's unassuming smile as I passed him in the halls between classes.
I'd love to add everyone's memories of Steve. Send me a message and I'll add your comments and memories to this page.

When I heard about Steve, my heart just hurt. He was a quite person but was always kind and had a cute smile. Steve was always thoughtful and nice to everyone. He always offered to take us for rides in his jeep. I remember one night, Steve took us to Mt Lebanon and we found a couple that was stranded on the side of the road. Without hesitation, Steve picked them up and began driving them home. As it turned out, they lived pretty far. After dropping them off in Red Oak or Waxahachie we ended up coming home around two a.m. Because we had not arrived home earlier, my mom started calling around looking for us. Back then, we didn't have mobile phones. Of course she called Angie's mother to see if I was possibly at her house. Angie ended up grounded because she was out so late. I remember my mom was just glad I wasn't out smokin' pot so I escaped being grounded.Like Angie said, we have so many good and fun memories of him in that orange jeep. I wish he was still with us... just so I can send him an email... or see him again.
