About this Site
Thank you for your interest in our website. Below are a few topics about this site that you may find helpful to know before you join. Please feel free to click on the link called "Contact Us", if there are other questions you may have regarding the site.
Who can join? This site is intended for current residents of the Whitestone Oaks neighborhood in Cedar Park, TX. To join, all members must first be verified by the website administrator. This is to ensure that only residents join the site.
Why join? As residents of the community, we feel that this could be a central contact location for each member. Our neighborhood hosts several get-togethers throughout the year. The details of these will be posted on the site and it will be used as a means of headcount for such parties. Photos of these events will also be posted for viewing by members. There are a ton of other announcements that could be made as well...some ideas include: for sale items, garage sale dates, lost animals, lost and found belongings, carpool rides, etc.
Who hosts the site? It is hosted by Class Creator which is a secure website that is mostly geared towards school class websites. However, with its' ever increasing popularity, it has been modified to be used for all types of groups, i.e., family reunions, churches, bands, and neighborhoods. You can read more information about the host at classcreator.com.
Is the site really secure? Personally, I have used Class Creator as the administrator for another website with over 300 members for over a year, and highly trust it. Although I can't guarantee anything about use of this site, I have had no complaints about security, privacy, or viruses or anything of the sort.
When creating your profile, you can choose whether or not you would like your information to be public or private to non-participating site members. If you don't want participating members to know certain things, just don't enter that information. It's that simple. Only list what you want to share. Some like to share a little about their family, including pictures and hobbies, others only want to have their name listed so they can log in to the site to look at upcoming announcements. At any time, you can choose to have your name removed from the site altogether just by letting the administrator know (click "contact us" link and just send a message saying you'd like to be removed.)
Who pays for the site? Unlike most sites, this site does not allow pop-ups or any types of advertisements. Currently, we are paying for the site on a month-by-month basis at $9 per month. If the site proves to be beneficial to the neighborhood, we will continue its' use and can pay a cheaper rate of $97 per year. It will then be funded by members of the neighborhood who would like to participate. This $97 will be split among the participating members, individual price will be determined by number of members. So, for example, if we had 30 participants, it would cost each family less than $4 a year. As our neighborhood expands, and site membership grows, it will be even cheaper per family. We have no limit on the number of members who can participate.
Is this site a means of H.O.A. violation complaints? No. The Homeowner's Association is the place for issues or complaints. This site is not affiliated with the H.O.A. in any way. Any question/remark of this sort that appears on the site will be either referred to the H.O.A. website or deleted altogether.
