After high school, I attended Kirkwood Community College in Cedar Rapids for a couple of years before transferring to the University of Northern Iowa in Cedar Falls. I received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Management Information Systems from UNI in 1996. After college, I moved to Chicago to take an IT consulting job with Arthur Andersen LLP, then the world's largest accounting firm. While working, I attended business school classes at night and graduated from DePaul University with an MBA in Telecommunications Management in 2000. In 2002, while on a trip to visit my brother in Europe, I met Annie, then a graduate student of fashion design at a school in Dijon, France, on the steps of Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris. It was love at first sight and we kept in touch and visited one other for the next three years. As soon as Annie completed her graduate studies, I asked her parents for her hand in marriage. We were married at the Ritz-Carleton Hotel in Shanghai, China (Annie's home town) in March of 2006. In 2007, I decided that three years of business school was not enough and enrolled in law school. I am currently an evening student jointly pursuing J.D. and L.L.M. degrees in technology and privacy law at the University of Illinois at Chicago John Marshall Law School. By day, I am Vice President and Chief Information Security Officer at Paychex, Inc., a $50 billion software company based in Rochester, New York. Annie and I live in Naperville, Illinois, a western suburb of Chicago, and have one child, Katherine.
