Dave was one of the greatest guys ever and I miss him a ton. I got to know him in elementary school and we always remained friends. We had lots of fun in DECA and I will never forget his great smile!

Dave was a great childhood friend and as many of you know, I have had the honor of raising his son, David. I can remember so many good times spent with Dave...whether it be playing in all the sports together or just hanging out at Chapmans as little kids and watching him somehow get everything for free. I think of Dave often and see so much of him in David. Dave, you are missed!

Hearing about David was shocking to me. I remember him "modeling" in elementary school for a portrait I did for him. Mrs. morris kept his picture as a demenstration for years. Who'd of known he wouldn't be around to see our 20th? I have so many great memories of David, Lance, Kevin, Betsy ... we were just a bunch of mouthy kids on the elementary school playground. David was always adorable and a clown. I think it was a competition between him and Lance. I've often wished Mrs. Morris still had the drawing in her Art classroom at Van Buren. It looked just like him! I have always said that I would love to give it to his Mother. And it was one of those drawings that we couldn't look at the paper ... we could only look at our study and couldn't pick up our pen from the paper. He was always laughing and crack'n us all up. What a loss.

Dave Yancey was missed tonight at the reunion. I heard his name many times
and it was great to talk about old stories.

I miss David very much. I remember him being so full of life all the time. David and my husband became close friends. They loved to go up to the drag strip. I would go as well. David and I would bet each who would run the fastest in Joe's 55 chevy. Joe always beat us. Once in awhile I would beat David's time...he hated that. But it was good fun.

I'm sitting here stunned, looking at all the photos and coming to his name and seeing the red rose. I had no idea that David is no longer with us. Emotions are running wild because when I came to jeff I literally new 2 people, then had the priviledge of getting to know all of U. But Dave seemed to always have a smile on his face and a great laugh....UNBELIEVABLE.

Much blessing to Kevin and his family for rasing David's son. My heart is really hurting, I truely missing him.

At Van Buren Elementary I had the biggest "little girl" crush on David. He used to ask me to bring him gum and every morning I would do exactly what he said and buy him Bubble Yum. I remember him being so funny and full of life. I am glad to see Kevin was able to take over where he left off with his son. I am sure David would be proud.

Today is Davids birthday  he would have been 41.  It doesnt seem possible that all you kids are grown up and have children of your own.....I've been wanting to reach so many of you  for quite awhile....to tell you all how much your friendship meant to our family over the years.....The football games and especially the baseball games and saturday morning surprise with the donuts and chocolate milk......the girls outside our bedroom window noisely being quiet, calling for Dave and me "saying your at the wrong window "and the screaming and running away.....There are countless good memories  and am so thankful for each.  I remember drag racing a short distance with Vifian in the mustang on 16th ave. after a baseball game. I remember what a sweetheart Adam Wright was. How much Chris Arenas hated catching when ever David begged the coach to let him pitch....as good a baseball player as Dave was he had speed & strength but no control....fortunately he didnt pitch often.   It was  so nice to read  & hear about all of you and your families after the reunion.  I can't begin to tell you how much your remembering David means to myself and our family....He had so many friends and co-workers that we heard from even some who had left the state sent letters and cards and even though it seems that nothing helps at a time so sad ......those words and kindness really helped get us through.  I  still  hear from Robin (Vanous) Reickhoff and of course Joe & Lisa Dumond are still good friends....Most of you know that Tanya married Kevin Kitterman.  Kevin being ever the gentleman had asked Dave if he minded if he asked Tanya out and Dave told him "he couldnt think of anyone he would rather have around his son".  I thank GOD everyday for Kevin, I love him like one of my own and he has been a wonderful role model and dad to young David......Young David is 19 and going to college and playing baseball, he lives for baseball.....Watching him play ball is just like watching his dad, same run, same stance, etc. the only difference is that he CAN pitch......he is an all around great baseball player and a great kid.....He has  inheirited his dad and moms academic abilities as well.  He looks so much like his dad and has that same devish grin .  I think he will go far in life.  So once again Thank You one and all for your thoughts, kindness and remembering  David and the good times shared.

I hope this Christmas brings  peace and joy and that 2012 is a prosperous New Year.

                                                                                                                   Love,  Peg Yancey
