What did you do right after high school?

Right after high school, I attended the University of Nothern Iowa and recieved my BA in Elementary Education. And, I could say, that I lived up my college life!

What did you want to do or think you were going to do when you finished high school?

I thought that I was going to go to UNI and major in Psychology, but the first day of orientation, I changed majors to Elementary Education.

What is your favorite memory of XHS?

This will have to be talked about when we are sipping a few back and have had plenty to drink!!! There are too many to talk about!!!

Biggest thing you would do differently if you went back to your time at XHS?

Not a thing except considering we were the first graduating class, we could/should have been able to get away with a lot more things like the campout on the soccer field!

Graduated from the University of Northern Iowa with a degree in Elementary Education. Moved to Kansas City area to teach 6th grade and to be with my wonderful husband, Eric Horner (baseball coach at Johnson County Community College and professor). While working full time, I went to the University Of St. Mary's to complete my Masters in Education. I completed it in one year and was in class for four hours every Wednesday and Thursday night...yuck!! We got married in 2005, had Halee in 2006, another baby on the way, I am completing my English Language Learners Endorsement (apparently, I love spending money for education!! I guess that is what teachers do best!) and who knows where our life will lead us as long as we are together, we are golden!

What do you like to do in your spare time?

I love spending time with my family and watching Eric coach baseball. Halee loves to go to baseball games and I am sure when our son comes he will HAVE to love going to baseball games too!

How often do you get back to Cedar Rapids?

Every few months depending

Would you ever move back to the Cedar Rapids area?

Ummmm....not sure. I love being in Kansas City and having so many things to do, but I miss the slow-paceness of Cedar Rapids and my family.

Do you still see/talk to/hang out with any classmates? Who?

I do talk to people from Xavier....for one, my husband! Lisa Malone (Kuckler) is still my best friend! I have been able to talk and keep up with friends through facebook, so that has been very nice to communicate with a lot of people that way!

No, thank god!

What would we be surprised to know about you?

I tried out for the Real World on MTV when I was in college!!

Well with the last name of Horner, you can imagine what my 6th graders come up with!
