NOTE: If you plan on attending Friday and/or Saturday, even though these events are free, you MUST register on this page. Just creating a profile on the website will not reserve a meal for you on Saturday. We need total number of people registered for food counts. Thanks!
Friday Night Casual Get-Together at Starlite, owned by classmate Sam Aossey. 5:30 on. He will provide a limited amount of beer, wine, and appetizers. You can order off the menu at your expense as well.
Saturday morning you may wish to start the day with a brunch buffet at the Hilton Garden inn. Cost is approx. $8-10. This is not a reserved space event, just come if you wish!
Saturday morning city-wide bus tour. NOTE: THIS TOUR IS NOW FULL AND WE CANNOT ACCEPT MORE REGISTRATIONS. YOU CAN CONTACT US TO BE PUT ON A WAITING LIST IN CASE ANYONE DROPS OFF. This 2-hour tour (10AM-noon) is led by Cedar Rapids Historian Mark Stoffer Hunter. Mark has been leading walking and bus tours of the city for years; no one knows more about the city than he does! He will regale us with information about changes in the city in the past decades as we drive by our old schools and neighborhoods, including areas where new development has taken place. His tours are always fun and never boring! Registration for this event is required, with payment due in advance. NOTE: Participation is limited to first 45 people to sign up, so don't delay if you are interested. See the Ticket/Activity Manager. Send your check (made out to Washington H.S. Class of 1972) to Deb Hartung, 3059 Hawks Ridge Ln., Marion, Ia. 52302.
Interested in golf? You may wish to gather with old friends for a round of golf or mini golf. C.R. Twin Pines has a new mini golf course, and their grounds are located minutes away from the Hilton Garden Inn. A round of mini golf is $7 for seniors, and no reservation is needed. Should you wish to reserve a tee time for regular golf, contact Steve at Twin Pines, 319-286-5583.
Saturday evening's festivities take place at the Hilton Garden Inn, beginning with social time at 6:00. A buffet dinner will be served at 7. A DJ will play oldies from our era, and a dance floor is available. Our usual photographer, "Joe Photo" will be taking great photos all night. Note on the ticket/activity manager page that we hope to offer the reunion free of charge, thanks to generous donations from several class members. However, a final determination will be made when we see how many register. If our numbers are high, it is possible we may need to charge a nominal fee, which you can pay by check in advance or possibly at the door. PLEASE REGISTER! Updated information regarding this will be in the announcements.
