Leonard (Jerry) Kolbet (Charles City Press, Oct.17, 2022)

Leonard G. Kolbet, 70, formerly of Rockford, died Oct. 12 at his home with daughter Jennifer Cross and companion Connie Lennie by his side.

There will be a visitation on Saturday, Oct. 22 from 12-2 p.m. with a service held afterwards at Hauser Weishaar Funeral Home in Charles City. A private family inurnment will take place at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Roseville at a later date.

Jerry G. Kolbet was born Feb. 10, 1952 to Leonard J. Kolbet and Pauline (Staudt) Kolbet in Rockford. Jerry grew up in the Charles City area where he attended the Charles City School District where he graduated in 1972. Jerry went on to further his education at MACC, earning his degree in agricultural mechanics in 1973. In 1975 Jerry purchased his lifelong farm where he lived out his life. In 1976 Jerry was married for a short time and welcomed his daughter, Jennifer Kolbet Cross, into the world in 1978.

Jerry enjoyed his life on the farm raising horses and small livestock. He also was a small grain farmer. Jerry enjoyed every minute he spent on his farm and took pride in being a lifelong farmer. Jerry spent his free time hunting, fishing, dancing, sightseeing, playing cards, watching movies, garage-saling, flea markets and his trips to the casino with his partner in crime Connie Lennie.

Jerry will be missed greatly by his daughter Jennifer Kolbet Cross, son-in-law Shawn Cross, grandchildren Allie, Cole and Carley Cross, girlfriend Connie Lennie, niece Tarisha Davis and nephew Maurice Brigap. He was preceded in death by his mother Pauline Staudt Kolbet, father Leonard J. Kolbet, brother-in-law Dwight Briggs and sisters Jean Ann Briggs.
