George was a dear friend and old buddy of mine for many years. George was a man full of humor who knew how to make those around him laugh. We spent many hours talking, laughing, and making fun of mundane and bizarre situations in high school and throughout college. He was a creative guy who had an artist eye, lover of good music, and a passion for gardening. There was a special place in his heart for family, friends, and people in need. So many good memories. Godspeed George, you will be missed.

 

 

 

 

Actually Mary, Bill and I had been going "steady " for almost a year when he died. 
It was such a defining moment for so many of us in our small but seemingly sheltered world. Bill was a kind, generous, and super fun guy. I have many good memories of him and his dear sweet family, who took me to a lot of Davidson basketball games! His parents were together for 73 years. In fact, they were childhood sweethearts! Such bittersweet memories.
