We were in 6th grade together, and he sat right across from me in Mrs. Hitchcock's class at Sharon Elementary. I have good memories of Matt. I was surprised and sorry to hear that he has died. I don't know when he passed, but I remember a very friendly boy!

Matthew Carmen Graziadei graduated from Myers Park High School in

Charlotte, North Carolina and was elected to Who's Who in American High

School Students. Matt was a student intern at the Charlotte Mint Museum and

served as a Goodwill Ambassador for the Muscular Dystrophy Association both

locally and statewide.

The Matthew C. Graziadei Achievement Award is presented annually to a high school senior with a disability who best exemplifies the characteristics ofMatthew Graziadei. Matt was a remarkable young man who died in January

1998 at age 26.
