A SPECIAL NOTE FROM A FRIEND OF

JOHNNY NIVENS SENT TO THE

CLASS OF 89 ON SEPTEMBER 28, 2010

From: David Richard Krug II
Email: davidkrug75@gmail.com

I was obviously not in your class (I went to West Charlotte, and was a few years younger), but please do me a favor and post this about Johnny: Johnny grew up down the street from me on Beverly Dr., and though young, was one of the most sublime people I have ever known. He was a few years older than me, and had a profound influence on the type of person I still strive to be to this day. There was not a sport that Johnny could not make look easy. We would play pick-up games of football at Christ Episcopal Church in Myers Park. I can still see Johnny running down the field with my little brother held tightly to one of his broad shoulders and the ball in his other hand; even then no one could touch him. His smile was embracing and omnipresent. Johnny's future was limitless. My memories of Johnny can still bring tears to my eyes as he embodied everything I ever wanted to be. I loved him like the older brother I never had. I always will.

THANK YOU!!
