Donna Browder Moyer

Graduated Wake Forest University 1975. Graduated Bowman-Gray School of Medicine 1979. Married Frank Moyer 12/1977. We met in Med school and he was a year ahead of me and specialized in Family Practice. I did a Pediattic residency at Baptist Hospital in Winston-Salem from 1979 to 1982. I was on a CD Naval Health Professions scholarship which paid for medical school and I owed them one year of service (4 years) but actually did 5 years. Frank joined the Navy and we were sent to Long Beach, California to the naval hospital there where we each worked in our specialty. I did weekend acute care for children there at Long Beach so I basically saw any sick child that came to Disneyland and was a military dependent. They would get free care and free medicine. After 3 years in California, we were sent to Patuxent River, Md. for 2 years. We then worked in northern Virginia and in Newport News, Virginia over the next few years while we started a family. We moved back to Winston-Salem in 1998. We adopted our son from Russia after having two girls biologically. Our second daughter, Emily, was very premature and very sick. She was in the hospital for her first 18 months of life. We had a very happy life for many years . Sadly Frank and I had problems and divorced in 2013. He has remarried and seems happy. Emily was placed in a residential treatment center about 3 years ago having lived with us up until then. Hayley who is 27 and Nikolas who is 21 live with me in Lewisville, NC. I’m presently working at the Davie County Health Department in Mocksville. Recently I was in a severe car accident and am in rehab on FMLA for now. I am getting better and stronger each day, mainly dealing with fractured thoracic vertebrae and shattered pubic bones. But I am convinced I will get better very soon.

Susan Arant and I passed notes in school but hers had valuable art work on them that I wish I had saved. I am sure they would be very valuable.
When Jimmy Griffith drove me home after our dates, my Mom would continuously flick the front porch lights until I came inside.
Also I remember a pet snake python that got loose up at NC State dormitory by one of Jimmy’s suite mates. And apparently that snake had not recently been fed. My visit there from Wake Forest then was not a relaxing one!
