Aubrey M. Mays "Pete", 70, of Rutherford, N.C. died at Rutherford Medical Center on December 25, 2017.
He was born on July 10, 1947, in Charlottesville, Va. to the late John W. and Evelyn P. Mays.
Surviving are his brother, George E. Mays and his wife, Constance of North Garden; and three nephews, Dwayne, Dillyn, and DJ, all of Fla. He also leaves behind his friend, Lisa, also of Rutherford, N.C.
A graveside service will be held at Mooreland Baptist Church, North Garden at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, January 10, 2018.

Aubrey was one of my best friends during our senior year. We've kept in touch over the years. It is so difficult to believe he has passed. I am so thankful that I saw him at the reunion this past Fall. He rode his Harley all the way from Rutherford, NC to Charlottesville. We sat together at dinner, reminisced about old times, and caught up on our lives. He loved animals especially horses. I'm sure Mack Tate was there to welcome him! Look out, Heaven!
