Grosch Lifer Saver

During the night of our June graduation party, one of our classmates entered the swimming pool.

Several other classmates decided it would be appropriate for me to enter the pool.

However, I was different minded.

I took off for a lobby at the Holiday Inn pursued by classmates.

You Major Grosch, were the closest when I went through a glass door -- fortunately.

Fortunately, because you escorted  me across a field to the nearby hospital with my right arm in the air bleeding  And, then accompanied me while I got 35 stitches. I think the Intern thought I may have had too much too drink. But, you corrected matters.

Thanks pal.

I see that event differently..Ha.   I was drinking and when I drank back then. (Well you know)... My mindset was.....Holy crap I did it.... I graduated, got my commission (2lt.). Got engaged that week -end, gave Ronnie the ring at the TKE party. All is good.   SO....That's when I usually screw up.

Yes I wanted you in the Pool.....(with clothes on an all. and you, all 6'1'' 210 lbs... said no way,Grosch)

I ran after you to wrestle you and drag you back to the pool area. We were laughing and you (running away) put your arm through the glass door.

My fault.  I wasn't the hero of this "A PMC Narrative"...I was the problem....The scar and the 35 stiches was my fault. Sorry Chic,Ha...I took you to the hospital because I was scared "Shit" that you would bleed out.

That's a good memory Chic... I forget about how crazy I was back then.

We were all a little crazier then than we are now, but we were a tight group.  That's why the memories are still strong and so are our friendships...all these years later.  I remember a "sword fight" with two upper classmen our Junior year in Howell or Turrel Hall (can't remember which) and one of them stabbed the other in the bicep.  What a mess.  Amazing that we didn't see more injuries during those years.  But, we all turned out better men because of them.

I never heard that story Billy. Those Sabres were dangerous. Stabbing someone in the arm, (sword fighting in the dorm, drawing blood) that event could have gotten Col. Menards' attention for sure! They dodged a bullet.

Col. Menard "Roamed the Dorms" I can attest to that fact, specifically.

It's Monday after the Drexel U. game. I was beat up and was laying on my bunk. Eddie Gambon was my room-mate (in my senior year).. All of a sudden the door opens and there was Menard. I got out of bed immediately.

He closed the door and left without saying a word. "I'm screwed", I thought.

Sure enough, I was immediately busted to Senior Private. His position was that as XO of Company Cmdr. John Hepler's.. "Foxtrot Company... I was in charge of the "Rooks" and that I was setting a bad example. (No hearing no empathy).

You Billy, as the 1st Captain of the Cadet Corps went to him and next thing I know I'm on the First Batalion staff asThe "Batallion Provost". (Ironic).

Thanks Roomer.
