After graduation I accepted a position with Arthur Andersen & Co. They sent me to Northwestern U. for audit training. I was then assigned to their Wall Street, NY office. Next I enrolled in Iona Colleges' MBA program at night. I worked during the day for IBM, Westchester, in their Balance Sheet Accounting Dept. Upon completion of my MBA I entered the Army and was sent to Artillery Officers Basic School, Ft Sill Ok., Airborne School, Ft Benning Ga. and Jungle School, Ft. Sherman, Panama Canal. Attained the rank of Major in the USAR, after graduating from their Corps of Engineers Advanced School, Ft. Belvoir,Va. My last reserve assignment was for the Office of the Director of Intercollegiate Athletic, West Point ,NY. After the Army I worked for Konica,USA and Coleco International as their Director of Sales respectively: next I worked for McNeill Needlework & Crafts,Inc. and My College Advisor,Inc. as their VP of Marketing. In 1990 I started Grosch Marketing, a manufacturers rep. organization.
As a rook I went to a dance at the Chester community center. I met a girl and she started to come by campus to see me.....especially during the parades. Little did I know she was also seeing other cadets.
One of the cadets was a senior who knew about me through her......it was a great break for me.
I came from Yonkers NY, and had long hair and was reluctant to part with my "Doo". I was always "walking tours" because of my refusal to cut my hair short. One night over the loud speaker I heard "Cadet Robert Grosch report to the Brigade Commander on the 3rd floor of Terrell Hall". Of course that was Cadet 1st.Captain Lance Geogehan. I had no idea what he wanted but I started to go. While on the stairwell going up to the 3rd.floor this same senior was coming down and said "don't go up there, it's an ambush, they want to shave your head"........ Obviously I dodged a bullet!
Moral of the story.....I had a great four years at PMC with fond memories, if this senior had not warned me, most likely, knowing the way I was,(my temper), I would have sought revenge, hurt someone and gotten kicked out of school. From time to time I look that senior up in the yearbook and say thank you.
What's next on the bucket list and what have I accomplished?.
Go to Arlington National Cemetery and pay my respects to a TKE Brother. LTC John Grant,USMC.
Accomplished... Went to my 50th PMC College reunion
