IGMR as it was called required all Junior Cadets who signed their advance ROTC contract to attend ROTC summer camp between their junior and senior year,with other ROTC programs. (Middlle Atlantic State Colleges).

I remember Captain Detlie told me..."If you want to get your DMS and DMG, you must be rated high with the Regular Army Officer and NCO assigned to your platoon"; (especially if you want an "RA" commission).

I was in Atlantic City that summer with Florence, who I met after the Little Army Navy game". (at the "Boardwalk Bowl Military Ball"). I was living on the beach with her in my New "64 1/2 Mustang convertable".(I didn't want to go, obviously).

By this time (3 years later) I had bought into PMC ,the Cadet Corps and the Army. "In for a penny, in for a pound", I thought. "Do your best Bobby...don't screw up".

First week, this loud mouth from Virgina Tech got in my face "Bad mouthing PMC"...I hit him in the eye ,and he went down, in front of the whole platoon. ("You did it again,Jerk").

At  barracks inspection the next morning, Captain Hammond ask the Virginia Tech Cadet."How did you get that Black Eye"

(I was embarrassed, afraid, wondering what I was going to tell my parents).

What happened next, SILENCE, (the entire platoon). Thanks guys, I'll never forget that!

Lucked out as usuall Bob.  As my father used to say to me "you'd fall in a pile of horse shit and come up with a $5 bill". 
Actually they all respected you.  Honor among brothers!!!
