Pete Rohana is dead Posted Wednesday, August 25, 2021 12:07 AM It's fall 1962 and I am suiting up for my first day of freshman football practice. I look around the locker room, not knowing a soul, and see all these guys talking, laughing, and reminiscing about their "Glory days" playing high school football in Delaware County. As I am listening to their conversation I learn that St. James Catholic and Ridley township HS's are the football powerhouses in the area. (Catholic and Public Leagues). In time Pete walks over and introduces himself. I could tell by his demeanor that he was a confident athlete. More important to me was his awareness of what is needed to build a winning team. (Bring everyone into the fold, so to speak). In conversation I learned he went to St. James Catholic in Chester and that he was the starting linebacker on a good team. As the year went by I learned a lot about Pete. First he was a PLAYER! A leader on the field. Hardest hitter on the team,by far. Not vocal; his leadership came by playing hard all the time. (You could say he led by example). That started a friendship. I am proud to have known him. After Penn Morton/PMC He became a lawyer, councilman, solicitor for Delaware county, an active, alumni, dedicated to Widener's future. One example, Pete started the "Blue and Gold" club for past student athletes. Today they have honored outstanding student athletes like Nick Trainer and Biily "White Shoes" Johnson. God Bless you Pete. Rest in peace Brother Bobbyj |
