Anneliese Hahner Wawrzyniak

After graduating from Schurz I went to Wright Jr. College. My first job was working in a bank downtown. I traveled to Europe and returned working for Department of Aviation at City Hall. I later worked as an architectural secretary in the city. In January 1966 I married Andrew and we will celebrate our 44th wedding anniversary in January. We traveled all over Europe before having children. Both of our children are living abroad. Andrew (the oldest twin by 13 minutes) lives in London, but will return in January and Mark is living in Brussels. My husband is a CPS Principal. We were also full time caregivers for my mother-in-law and mother before they died. My mother died two years also at the age of 92. It was a very challenging time for us for we had them living with us. We are now back to traveling Poland, Germany, France, USA, etc., etc. and ejoying life as it was after graduation with my wonderful husband.

I have many fond memories of Schurz. I was really saddened that so many of our classmates have died. I remember Mr. Piper my home room teacher, and some of the wonderful teachers and not so wonderful teachers. And how could I forget the bowling team, the volleyball team and the dances on Fridays and the football games at Lane.
