Joseph Cartharn

- Graduated Hyde Park, got a college education from the United States Air Force Academy(B.S.)

- Studied engineering - earned my Bachelors degree from the United States Air Force Academy in 1993

- Served in Korea, went to flight school, served in Iraq; and contributed to the successful 2007 strategy in Iraq (but can't discuss details until they are de-classified in 2025).

- I am a Federal Employee with the Department of Defense. I help develop strategy for the Global War on Terror campaign against Al Qaeda.

- I learned to fly while in the military, endured many hardships, being under enemy attack during war in Iraq, and being away from my family for extended periods of time. I am enjoying life as a civilian.

A great and wise teacher once said:

- I am so proud of all of you. The success, beauty, wisdom of my classmates proves Hyde Park was a special place.

- Really enjoyed classes with Mr. Jackson, all my math classes, English with Ms. Conway, and physics with Mrs. Zimmerman; but my classmates really made the time in class fun.

- Representing HPCA on the WGN "Know Your Heritage" (with Mrs. Murray as our coach); and winning.

- I remember Division for 957; sitting next to Paulette Byars. I had a crush on her; but we found out we were distant cousins (still thinks she's beautiful).

The women of HP were absolutely beautiful; and still lovely to this day.
