I met Debbie on the first day of eighth grade at H.B.Stowe school. She was fresh up from Tennessee and I was transferring from yet another school of the seven grade schools I had attended. We were both scared to death sitting in the auditorium waiting to be placed. Thank God we both went to Mr. Sobel's class and then on to Ms. Wiess's class. We clung to each other that day and from then on until I moved to Texas and we lost touch. She was good and kind and so very sweet. She had all her ducks in row and knew exactly what she wanted to do with her life. I should have tried to be more like her. What a dear friend, what a good person. I'm sorry she didn't have more time in this world, I could have used her good sense more times than I can say. I would love for her to know that I got the perfect man after all...it just wasn't the one I thought it woud be.

Bless your memory dear friend, and yes...I've been to Reelfoot Lake and it's everything you said it would be.

I had her Brother Clyde in a couple of my classes. Does anyone know what Debbie's cause of death was and how old was she? I also worked with Bob Lange on the 45th year reunion (class of 68 & friends) and we both tried to locate Clyde but our attempts to do so came up empty. Maybe he moved back to Tennessee.

In answer to Ken's question regarding Clyde Threlkeld...Clyde was Debbie's cousin, and he may have moved back to Ridgely, Tennessee where they both came from. I live here in Tennessee now and have thought about looking him up. I have been to the little town but never had the time to do any searching. These little Tennessee towns are usually made up of just a few families, everybody is related to everybody.

I believe Debbie died of a blood clot, and tragically it happened in her doctors office. That was what I was told...if I'm wrong I hope someone can set me straight.

I'll be glad to let you know if I find Clyde. I'll be planning a trip out that way soon (I live in near Nashville) as there is an Adventure Center newly opened that will be a treat for my grandkids right there at Reelfoot Lake.
